Turkeygirl
Not what you or I was expecting either, lol. No, not the hospital, still waiting on them. The custodial boss from the college where I got my Bachelor's degree, well before I went in to nursing school, I worked as a temporary supervisor for him in a few of the buildings while the regulars were gone. Just got an email from him asking if I wanted 2-4 weeks of work! Part of me is like sweet, can pull in a little cash at least rather than be a bum at home. The other part of me is well...I don't want to go deeper into nursing forgetfulness or something...that's my worry is forgetting alot of stuff the longer I wait around, but at least I know the holidays is the reason for the waiting on this nursing job application. Anyway guess I'll give him a call and see what's up. My guess is one of the full timers is taking some time off or something....
birdhunter39
you can gain some experience with this job , you can repair a fractured broom handle, and if a student slips and falls while your mopping the floor you'll be there , see alls not lost . plus money is money , you can take this job temporary until a job in your field comes along or you can see what he has to say
Turkeygirl
Been there...done that with the fractured broom handle, lol;) Had one fracture at camp...splinting and taping did not work so I had to place an internal rod into the stick and then tape....LOL So meeting the boss at 9am Monday morning...Probably be starting work on or around the 18th...Unless I get word from the hospital at some point. I'll probably be going in around 6am so certain things are done professors and what not get into their offices around 7am or so...

RangerClay
Take the cleaning job but be honest and tell them that you are waiting for that phone call from the hospital.
Turkeygirl
Oh, the boss knows. And When I meet him Monday morning, I'll ask him if he's got a back-up plan because Jones may want me before I'm done with the custodial stuff. He's a pretty good guy and understanding. I'll throw a word in for my sister, as she's worked with him before, so if it's cut short for me, maybe he'll take my sister for that time. Adjam5
Ruth...do they have band aids there:D. Hope you won't need them. Sounds like it will be good to break the every day doldrums for a while until your ship comes in(nursing job). I would let him know like Joe said, about the possibility of the hospital calling you. Shaun_300
Yeah I'd take that job and just make it fully aware that you're waiting on a call back from the hospital!
BRHNTR
Ruth, My wife and I live down it Connecticut she is a operating room nurse in Hartford, CT. As we speak she is working 40+ hours a week because they have no help. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get a nice paying nursing job anywhere. Muleyman
Well at least you have that option. Good luck Ruth.
DocMort
Turkey, From my experience once you learn something medical it may go away if now used but you will not forget it. Once you get back into the swing of things it will reappear. As far as nursing jobs you could always go up to Fort drum and work for the Army they pay good and you will get lost of different experience. Just my .
BuckNrut
Take the broom job Ruth. It's easier to get hired when you are already working. BTW, like others have said, you could come to Rochester and be working as a nurse in about 5 minutes!

Adjam5
Nurses are in high demand in many places. The closer you get to a populated place...the more money you can make. Unless of course... you are in it for the cause:D. But I think Ruth wants to work close to home. Am I right Ruth?
