MCH
Glad Bama got back to national prominence. Just wish it was due to another coach's success.:D Seriously, though. Have always respected Alabama. Congrats! P.S.--plus, thanks to Bama's scoring surge there at the end of the game, I won a few bucks in my bowl pool contest.:D Roll Tide!!!!!!!!! Guest TennesseeTurkey
Victory due to injury. Bottom line. They did play a good game. you could say that but again you cant..... mccoy COULD have played worse than that freshman did AND Bama played extremely conservative up 24-6 and they could have put the throttle to the floor but didnt.... DropTine49
If you subtract a few true freshman errors, mainly the droped pass in the endzone that was followed by the interception at the end of the first half, and the backup Garret Gilbert led Texas to a National Championship. muggs
It's unfortunate McCoy got hurt. It's also unfortunate that these kids have to sit out these games to preserve the chance at their millions. I don't blame him, but if he wasn't going in to April's draft, I'm sure he would have tried to play. You can't sit there and say the only reason 'Bama won was due to his injury. That's lame and there's no way to be sure what would have happened, well besides being a much more entertaining game. Gilbert sure looked like a true freshman. I think he'll be a solid QB eventually though. He's big and his arm looked pretty strong. I think if McCoy would have stayed healthy they would have scored more than 6 points on those first two gimmie pocessions, 'Bama was doing everything in their power to hand the Longhorns an early lead but hey, injuries happen. Ingram is impressive. That kid is the real deal. That was only the second time I've watched him play. I think he's got a legit shot at another Heismann. The 'Bama wideouts could not get seperation from the Texas defensivebacks (I thought speed killed...ugh). Tominator
First time in years where a national title game could scarecly hold my attention. Man, what a boring game.

Then I guess I'm lame.:bummed: I'm not saying TX would have slaughtered Bama, but I think they surely would have won with Colt in the game. otdrzmn04
ingram was the only one who contributed to alabama winning....oh and the freshman QB for Tx. what do u think the spread would have been if it had been known that a true freshman QB would have been leading the horns by being thrown into a championship game. IMO alabama did nothing but show up and run the clock down to 1 before snapping the ball from the 3rd quarter on. they were still scared of gilbert possibly scoring on a 3rd TD pass. Imagine the headlines had texas pulled it out and beat that "team like they have not faced this year", with gilbert. this was like a knife and a gun fight and the knife almost won. They must not have tv in Indiana because trent richardson made Texas's d look like they were in slow motion, and Alabama's D for 1 knocked Colt out of the game, and had 3 or 4 ints on top of a TD... fact is Bama won because Bama played as a team and won.... Texas layed down for the most part of the game after colt got hurt and Bama was verrrry conservative up 24-6.... texas still had to play Defense and Bama had the Offense on cruise control and still put up 31 points..... "played conservatively....could have throttled" u mean like the first drive when Tx sacked on every drop back. more like afraid their qb would throw a ball up that would be swallowed by the tx ball hawks.....speaking of QB's u shouldnt have hard feelings against Tx because snead couldnt cut it there and had to transfer to a awesome athletic program like Ole Miss

Last I checked Ole Miss was the back to back cotton bowl champs and they actually know what its like to play in the top 25 not just against them.... Oh and about the any team from Indiana.... the colts dont count....please go try to make me look bad somewhere else youll have more luck, because I know you wont win this arguement.... talk about cant cut it....:pop:
HowlingWolfe
What most people don't know is that the reason Bama had to play so conservatively is because McElroy couldn't throw the ball or scramble because he was playing the game with TWO BROKEN RIBS. Bama would have won the game by a HUGE margin if he wasn't hurt and he said he ws in severe pain during the game. So some are saying Texas would have won if McCoy wasn''t injured, but as it turns out, Texas had the advantage casue their qb was heathy and Bama's qb couldn't pass or scramble. Here's the link to the article about his broken ribs: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls09/news/story?id=4807296
Yellowhammer
There is alot of "what ifs" going around about the game. What if that one second was gone and Nebraska beat Texas. What if Colt did play, there is no way of knowing what the outcome would have been. The game was played the way it was and now it is in the history books. Like it or not but Alabama is the 2009 National Champions.
