shedhunternick
I posted this over on the NASHC forum too............ I got to thinking the other day, what if there was something that you could feed to bucks during antler development that gets absorbed into their growing antlers that would repel squirrels and other rodents away from eating the sheds? Seems like theres enough technology/time/money invested on growing big bucks and antler development to do such a thing. Or if it was even possible? Turkeygirl
I would say not a good idea because it'd be absorbed through out the deer...It'd be kind of like putting pesticided and herbicides on plants then eating them....Not good for our consumption. It's an interesting idea but too risky and IMO would interfere with how God made nature.....It's a pain sometimes to find those nawed antlers but it goes with the territory... buckee
I agree. I can't see anything like that being beneficial to the deer itself. Sounds like playing with fire to me, and heck, the other wildlife need those munchies too. I think it's kinda cool finding antlers that have been chewed on by different critters. It just adds a little more natural character to the find.
