layin on the smackdown Posted January 9, 2010 Report Share Posted January 9, 2010 I dunno Al, i think you did alright....On average a half a beef will run you right aroun the $480 - $550 mark hanging weight...so depending on how much your half weighed, i'd say you got fair market value...if you are really worried, i can call the old man and shoot him some numbers and he'll really let me know if you got a good deal or if you got had.... Missilelock Posted January 10, 2010 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 Al, I processed a lot of beef in our grocery store & never saw a half of beef hanging that weighed close to 500 pounds. hanging western beef was more of about 350 pound average......i was just trying to figure how a 500 pound hanging half only yielded 200 pounds, especially when you kept almost everything?? something doesnt add up.
