dbHunterNY
My '09 muzzleloader buck is done. I had some trouble with the skull doing a euro mount, so I thought I'd try the Mountain Mike's Bone Collector Record Keeper mounting kit. I said I'd post some pics, so here's a couple pictures... dbHunterNY
Whats the skull made out of ? Attaching the horns wasn't a problem ? Looks good. The skull comes in two pieces, a bottom piece and top skull plate, that are both white molded plastic. You make two angled cuts as you would for a shoulder mount. You then drill a couple holes to attach the antlers and real skull plate to the plastic top skull piece. I found the piece or mold to have the equalivalent width to a fully mature deer skull, so if you're mounting a younger deer you may have a little more blending work to do. You fill in the seems with a clay/putty epoxy that comes with the kit that sets in about 15 minutes. Then before it sets take something with a point and draw in your lines where the pieces of the skull would come together. I sanded some of the hight spots with 220 grit sandpaper (that didn't come with the kit) and then used a few coats of the white touch-up paint that came with it to make the tan epoxy white.
