bassmasters, help me out!

I live in Utah and have only bass fished for a few years. I mostly fish in the springtime from a boat in some private lakes in the desert. We have great success with spinnerbaits and Texas rigged worms, and catch 30-40 bass per day each, most in the 2-4 pound range.

I live five minutes from Utah lake and want to learn how to fish it for bass, as it has a healthy largemouth population. The lake is BIG, covering thousands of acres. It is very shallow, 10 feet at the deepest, and murky. It has a muddy bottom, with little structure and the shoreline is predominantly reeds. The daytime air temps right now range from 30-45 degrees.

How should I fish right now, and what should I use??

Thanks for any tips

Andy

Re: bassmasters, help me out!

I would throw spinnerbaits, soft plastics, or crankbaits (to cover a lot of water in order to find fish) at any cover or main points. Being winter time, I would concentrate on deep points with deep running crankbaits. Winter bass love these ambush points for shad. Try it and see how it goes.

Re: bassmasters, help me out!

I would start out by throwing a suspending jerkbait like a Rattling Rogue or a Husky Jerk. Fish it slow and let it sit for 3-5 seconds at a time. Slow rolling a spinnerbait near the bottom should work as well. The other guys ideas are good to. Keep trying something different til the bass tell you what they want. When you catch one pay attention to where he was (depth, point. ect) and that will help you find and catch more. Good luck!

Thanks all, I live on the nothwest corner of the lake and it sounds like that's the place to start. I love fishing spinnerbaits and will give it a shot this week.
