BrotherBadger
My father recently gave me a Browning 2000 12 ga shotgun. It is a gun that my grandfather bought and is in superb condition. I have used it many a time for hunting and regular skeet shooting. Now that i own it, i was thinking about using it for turkey hunting. My main question is: Can i find a choke for it? I have looked but not found any luck. Do i need to get a full choke barrel for it(i.e., nobody makes chokes for em)? I know this gun wasn't made for very long(mid 70s to early 80s), so finding an extra barrel would cost me a pretty penny. So, do you guys think i would be better off getting a newer shotgun for turkey?
MUDRUNNER
I would shop around ebay and gunbroker to see if the barrel you want is out there and what the prices are. I have remington 1100 I was going to turn into a sweet slug gun. I wanted to replace the stock and forearm with composites and add a rifled barrel, but by the time I would have it all set up it would've actually cost me more than a new slugger with all that stuff already on it. Shaun_300
Dad has a Browning 2000, it's a nice gun, I love the speed loader. As far as I know you have to switch barrels to get different choke selections on them, don't know of any 2000's with screw in chokes. Strut10
Wright's Gunsmithing in Illinois has threaded several barrels for me. They are super folks to deal with and do excellent work. Guaranteed, you can get your existing barrel threaded cheaper than you can buy another barrel. http://www.wrightsgunsmiths.com/Barrel%20Modification.htm
