Turkeygirl
LOL Ross:-p It's pretty long...not real wide...Doubt we'll contact the FD, being that we have a corn field to the right, and between the pond and house is our horse pasture...it'd be a haul for them. So far what I know is hopefully andy is going to build a dock, which I figure better get done before it fills up,lol. Mom wants a picnic tabke by it and a little shed/mini-cabin thing for changing in and camping out in,lol. Will be nice to swim in but I definitely want to have fish in it for sure! Not sure what we'll stock it with...I would figure Blue-gills or Pumpkinseeds at least... Andy is actually coming home early today,I think they may may finish it up...he wanted to make sure the dike is done well because we don't need it to break and our neighbors sueing us. Yesterday they put in a pipe in the bottom to drain the pond/silt out if we wanted. I can't wait to get home and see what they did today...Come-on 2:30! Strut10
Not sure what we'll stock it with...I would figure Blue-gills or Pumpkinseeds at least... Looks great, Ruth!! A lot like my dad's pond.....longish and narrow. Dad stocked his with yellow perch, rather than bluegills. Bluegill populations always seem to explode and you end up with a zillion silver dollar-sized 'gills. He put in golden shiners as the forage base. Walleye and crappies (BIG crappies!!!!!) are the predators. Good luck with your water hole.
Turkeygirl
Yeah we are trying to figure what kind of fish...over at camp the Blue-gills were biting people, lol. Andy wants to put in channel catfish because someone he knows has them, the rest of us are like no way, who wants to swim with fish that big in there...not me anyway! It got finished yesterday so when I get home, I'll post of finished photos.
