Tecumseh
I just put in for a Montana deer tag for the 2010 season and was wondering what weight bullet you use?I have a load worked up for my 280 Rem with a 140 gr sierra gameking at 2840 fps and feel this is plenty to get the job done,But I'm thinking about working up a load with a 150 gr gameking for extra measure. texastrophies
This past season I took the deer below with my .280 using good ol' 150 gr. Corelokts. He was quartering towards me at a couple hundred yards, shot went in the front right shoulder and ended up in the back left quarter doing some major damage along the way. Now this deer I used my .300 Win Mag on @ about 275 yards with a 180 gr. Fed Power Shok and had a clean pass through. The wound you see is actually the exit wound. What was suprising about this is that there was no blood trail. The deer ran about 50 yards down hill and the only blood I found was within about 5 yards of him. HoosierDaddy28
I hunt with a .25-06 and use a 117 gr BTSP. That is more than enough to do the job on a mulie. I love mule deer hunting.
