Hoosier Hunter
Does anyone use a pendelum sight? I was checking them out and really like the idea. Just not sure if they work as good as they look, and how easy they are to set up. Can someone give me some input on what kind they have if they have one? I really hate to get that expensive of a sight that I'm not happy with. Or maybe I should just stick to the fixed TruGLo I got from Walsuck. buckee
I used to use a Savage pendulum, when I had lots of trees-tands up. I have been hunting ground-blinds for a few years now, partly because of my health, and partly because I got frustrated with having our tree-stands stolen all the time.. They're great for treestand hunting and they're fine for on the ground too. I've got mine sighted in for 20 yrds on the ground, which gives me 0-30 in my stand, using just one pin. It shoots about 11/4" high at 10 yrds and I have an extra "dually pin" sighted in at 30 yrds for when I'm on the ground. I like mine It does depend on the speed of your bow, what kind of accuracy you'll get shooting with one pin. The less speed, the quicker your arrow drops. I was shooting a Mathews FeatherMax at 63lbs and it was working just fine for me. I'm shooting a Mathews Q2 now and around the same poundage, but switched my pendulum for the 5 pin Tru-glo just because I'm ground hunting, and no other reason. If your into a lot of 3D shooting, with ranges out past 30 yrds (40 and 50), I would suggest pins. For hunting 0-30 yrds from a tree-stand or on the ground...it's all you really need. -------------------------------------------------- This is the main pin I have on my Savage pendulum. This little baby glows in the dark, all night long and is guaranteed for 10 years. Those last 5-15 minutes of light aren't a problem anymore. I have another pin in front of my "Night Hawk" pin called a duelly pin (I think) , and have it sighted for 30 yrds , for when I am hunting on the ground. Here's my savage pendulum, with the 2 pins shown. Edited January 23, 2010 by buckee

buckee
Truglo has a similar product. I love those tritium sight-pins:) http://savagearchery.com/2-3395651-B000BF3TUW-Truglo_Archery_Pendulum_Sight_Type_Tritium_Fiber_Optic.html

peteski
I've been using a pendulum sight for 4 or 5 years now and love it. Its an Impact archery "All Terrain" sight. It is a single pin pendulum for in the treestand or you can lock it down and has adjustable yardage markers on a slide for on the ground. I shoot indoor targets, outdoor 3-D, and hunt all with one sight. A pendulum can increase your odds on deer, just practice with it from an elevated position, because like the other guy said it will probably shoot inch or 2 high in close, right on around 25yds and inch or two low at 30-32 yards.
