I got some great pics today, of a great buck

I went into Comox today to pick up a perscription and forgot my camera. Went by this farm where I always see deer, and low and behold, there is this Monster Blacktail in the field with all his buddies and a few girls to boot.

The rut is over here now, and the bucks are all chummy again. As you can see, they haven't lost their headgear yet, but those antlers will be all dropped by the end of February.

I picked up my perscription drove by again about 30 minutes later and they were still there, so I went home, grabbed the camera and tripod, dropped Diana off to get her hair trimmed and off I went in hopes they were still there.

They sure were.

This buck is an awesome blacktail buck. I think he's even wider than the 5x5 I got a few years ago, that I won the big buck award for.

Here's a nice 3x2 blacktail also, along with a little guy.

And the other day, I took this picture of these 2 guys just down the street from us, in a neighbours back yard. Looks like he may have been hit by a car or got injured during the rut. He's got a bad front leg.

Great buck there Steve. Very nice pics for sure. What's a mature blacktail weigh?

I've never weighed one just after field dressing, but with the hide, legs and head off, at the butchers, if you have a buck over 100 lbs, you've got yourself a nice buck.

My 5x5 a few years ago, was 115 lbs at the butcher. :D

I just wish I could hunt this farm, but I have asked many times in the past, with no success. The guy won't even let me in there to look for sheds. I guess that's why Mr. Big is there though..eh :D

He sure is a dandy Buckee! Just imagine what he'll grow into with his next set of antlers!

Oh he won't get much bigger than that Tom. He's either 4-1/2 or 5-1/2 now, so his rack might get a bit heavier, but not much bigger.

Remember, these Island Blacktails aren't near as big as whitetails...LOL...But this guy is a monster.
