Prairiepredator
A .270 should work fine, but if you are looking for a smaller caliber look at something like a .223 or a .243. I am not the best coyote hunter and we just started this year so I can not help you out too much. The biggest thing is to make sure you are quiet and play the wind right. Good luck and have fun! huntinman802
see if you can get your hands on the new Randy Anderson calling instructional video. he is the best caller ive ever heard and has alot of success. he also makes a great line of calls by primos, if your jsut starting calling go with the " Ki-Yi" you can make sounds with it from hurt pup, to the challenge howl if your good, and cotton tail distress sounds. on the video he goes over all of his calls and how to call. reezen hunter
i use a 22-250 and its just a great round for yotes and as for calls get a rabbit distress and a howler call just to start with. stay scentless as well yotes will work the wind better than any deer, most of all if you shoot one start calling again. dont think that the yotes know the diffrence from a thunder clap or a gun unless they have been shot at before.ive killed several just after the first shot so have fun
Cybertech_hound819
ok so im ganna get a caller. was looking at the fox pro spitfire. looks like a good call and i have heard nothin but good things about fox pro. and as far as a gun im thinking 22-250 or
cb11
.243 is a good caliber, I own two. But I think a faster and flatter shooting round, say 25-06, 22-250, 223 etc. is better for predator hunting.
dbHunterNY
Between the two 22-250 or 243 I'd pick the 22-250. As was said, it'll shoot much flatter and reach out there easier. I've known of both calibers and 270s being used for predator hunting. I'm starting to get into it more seriously now and picked up a 223. They all work though. I'm not sure which guns you're looking at or what your price range is, but I'd look at the remington R-15s or for a bolt guns the Savage model 10 predator or Savage model 10 precision carbine. T/C's new Venture Predator looks to be a good one too, but I can't get away from the accu-trigger from Savage.

Outdoorzman
I agree the 22-250 is an awesome predator rifle; it has the range and the knockdown power. Also, the instructional videos/dvd's will help you alot. There are several good ones on the market but of course I like the Operation Predator series by HS. Remember that HS also owns Johnny Stewart and Gerald is one of the best callers/yote hunters out there.
huntinman802
that .243 will treat you awesome on yotes and deer also. i love my .243 and it is the flattest shooting most accurate gun ive ever known of. ive shot woodchucks at 450 yds with mine. i dont own a foxpro call because im more into mouth calling but ive heard only good things about them and also the primos electronic call too.
