Re: BEAUTIFUL GOBBLER.........

That is a beautiful bird! Those odd coloration gobblers are very rare trophys.

Here's another odd colored gobbler that was killed in Mississippi 2 or 3 years ago. I posted the picture back then but most of you probably have not seen it. Sorry i don't have a better quality picture.

He uses a Mossberg 835 and our Item #501L Economy #4copper x #5copper x #7hevi-shot®. These are the results of 1 morning hunt and 1 afternoon hunt. He called up 5 Rio long beards total. The shot ranges were 12 steps, 60yds., 62yds., and 76 yds.

Is it just me or is 62 to 76 yards a bit far to be shooting? I have hunted Merriams three times, and once accidentally shot one at 51 yards with 3.5 inch #5 magnums through a turkey choke. That was an accident because i seriously mis-judged the distance. The bird went down, but i am sure the pattern was pretty sparse at that range. I was under the impression that it was more or less impossible to get a pattern at 60+ yards.

Re: BEAUTIFUL GOBBLER.........

With the new Rhino/Nitro combos nothing is impossible man lol. I have seen pictures of patterns at 70 yards where there were still 30 BB's or so in the head with this combo. Do I think that is too far to shoot, yes, but as long as you have patterned your gun out that far and know what it is capable of, then to each his own
