i personally havent even looked for sheds yet, but a guy i know has found 5 already. we were out runnin coyote dogs last saturday and he found another one. it was just a 1.5yr old but still a fresh one at that. another guy we were with found a real nice 10 point side in an open field, but it was from last season. nontheless they are dropping and to me it seems pretty early too. i am still getting quite a few trail cam pics and videos of bucks with both sides still. i am gunna go out tomorrow evening and sit in my truck and see what comes out of the woodwork to feed. we are getting some cold weather again so they should be on the move. good luck fellas!the pics are from just last week.

I honestly think that sheds have always started falling in mid to late december - it really just depends on the deer...The reason why people are now starting to identify this is because there are more people out there hunting and looking for sheds...Ive seen bucks with no antlers in mid december, but have also seen em carrying both sides in mid February...Every deer is different, we just have to be in the right spot at the right time to find em.

nice lookin pics too...got some great up and comers.

That is a very good and true statement!

Plus,we have the internet. You hear alot more now a days then you ever would have before.

I've killed a few already in late Nov./early Dec. that either already dropped or had antlers pop off while dragging the buck.

I think for my areas this is just an average year as far as dropping.

there is such a fine line between too early and too late up here where i am. i hate to get in there to early, because i have a whole bunch of deer wintering in our section this year and dont want them to feel any pressure due to early searching and winter else where. also if your in there too early you are going to cause the deer to most likely bust out across an open field and possibly jar them off and personally i dont spend a lot of time looking in the open fields, so therefore i would take a chance of not finding some antlers. on the other side of the coin, if you start too late 2 things can happen. one, those dang tree rats get to them b4 you do and chew em up real bad. and 2nd, other shed hunters could get in there and get your sheds b4 you do. so thats why i have all 5 trail cams out and once i start seeing a majority of bucks that have dropped one or both sides i will make that call when to get in there and do some searching. trail cameras are an awesome tool in aiding in this decision. good luck and i hope this bit of information may help y'all in getting some bone this winter!

I agree total on getting in too early.......I too use my trail cameras to know when to start looking ALOT versus need to wait a few more weeks ;)

Nice pics!

There are a few guys here in WI that have found a couple as early as last week already too. That seems early to me too, but we had a good amount of snow and cold early and that may have stressed them a bit. I have yet to find any where I hunt, but I havent looked real hard yet either.

We had a buck on camera that had dropped before bow season even ended. Some deer just drop early I guess.

Last night!!

Well i went out last night and sat in my truck with a buddy of mine in hopes of seeing a bunch of deer and some good bucks. We pulled up on top of this big hill in the mIddle of our cut bean field and there were already a few deer in the cut corn. Luckily it didnt alarm them too much and they went back to feeding. It wasnt a half hour later and there were deer coming out everywhere. We were looking at about 20-30 deer and i look behind me about 300 yards and there is another pile of 21 feeding in the cut beans. At this point i have only seen a hand full of bucks and they were all small 1.5yr. Old bucks. As it gets later more and more deer dump out of the woods in to the cut corn. To our amazment we Never saw any bucks that caught our attention. We did see quite a few bald deer that had bodies that stood out more than others. With all this being said, i belIeve that the majority of my bucks have dropped. I did not check my trail cameras to see if there were any bald bucks, because i didnt want to spook any of the deer that were in the fields. I will check them this weekend and let y'all know what i come up with. All in all it was worth the sit. I saw at least 60-70 deer and a couple longbeards. Plus i have a good idea of where to concentrate my efforts here in a few weeks when i feel it is the right time to start looking.

not where i hunt!well it certainly seems early in my spots. i checked my trail cams while doing a little shed hunting yesterday, and it seems that 90% of the deer are still sporting their head gear. i actually was lucky enough to glass the droptine buck for about 15 minutes. he still had both sides. here are a few pictures of what i had on my cameras of the last week.

gettin' close!i went out to our one property saturday evening to sit and see what came out. when i was pulling up to the property there was a nice 9 point and another small buck and some does already out feeding. they went back into the woods and i got in position to glass for the night. although the 9 point still had both sides, i did see at least one buck that had one side left. i attached the trail cam picture that i got of the 9 point earlier in the season.
