I for one was not concerned about the administration taking our guns, i am still concerned about components that relate to firearms (metals such as lead and brass) being regulated and taxed to death. I am much more concerned about him putting our country into so much debt that we will never recover, and then selling the US off to the highest bidder.

He has been in office for one year, what has he accomplished to date?

Don't recall ever saying that Obama was going to repossess any of my guns. Eric Holder, the Obama appointed Attorney General, has made it no secret that he looks to ban certain firearms Eric. Holder said too that Obama wants to bring back bans on semi autos "assault rifles". Has not happened yet and best as I can recall it seems that some democrats opposed the idea of working on new gun legislation at this point in time.

You know Eric, Obama was supposed to get our troops out of Iraq too, and as far as I know we still have men and women losing their lives over there. What about closing gitmo?

Do we say he is not trying to hold to his word on these issues or is there so much more going on that he just has not completed these things as he wishes to yet?

Oh I agree. He's done nothing, well besides playing a lot of golf. Closing Gitmo was a huge mistake.

I'm not a supporter.

I'm just saying, all the paranoia (which was greatly enhanced by NRA fear tactics) was unfounded. I mean, it's the same darn thing everytime a Dem gets in office. Clinton was supposed do the same thing and yada yada yada.

The NRA is lame. They just want their dues.

I've said this before and, I'll say it again. It would be political suicide for Obama to start up with major gun legislation right now. There are too many other, more important things going on, and he still has hope for a second term. His popularity is bottoming out very early so I expect that it will probably climb later on. You can bet that legislation is on the way, but its not on the top priorities list at the moment. Mark my words, its coming. Hopefully, whatever it is will not make it through, but its coming.

If it becomes apparent that he will not be re-elected or if he begins a second term, that's when you will begin to see gun legislation. When he sees that the popularity contest is over and there's nothing to lose, he'll go for it.

Just because a bunch of stuff has intervened in his plans, don't get lulled into a false sense that because he HAS not done anything that he either doesn't want to or won't. It is an error in logic to assume that this result is only because the Pres. is glad we have guns. In a perfect Obamaworld, none of us have guns. That he has not mad eit happen does not mean that the concerns were unfounded. Maybe there has been enough distractions to keep this off the agenda, or maybe behind the scenes, enough pressure has been created to keep it off the agenda. You'll never know, so don't go spouting off about things that can't be ascertained.

Are you expecting people to agree with you, or are you just stirring the pot here? I don't think you are going to give anyone an epiphany and change minds. These type comments just don't play very well to me, and I am guessing others around here. So you don't like the NRA, fine. This scenario is not proof that the NRA was wrong to be concerned or put out an alert.
