The Kid
Why in Canada does Thanksgiving fall in the month of October??
buckee
My wife says that it's because the end of our harvest is a month earlier than yours.
Alisha
My wife says that it's because the end of our harvest is a month earlier than yours. I wondered this as well before I moved here. I googled it then and came up with what Steve's better half said.
buckee
Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Thanksgiving is (or should be in some cases) giving thanks to God for the harvest and expressing gratitude. Thanksgiving in Brazil is celebrated on August 17. Thanksgiving Day in Grenada is on 25 October.

Prairiepredator
My wife says that it's because the end of our harvest is a month earlier than yours. That makes sense. I like being able to hunt with family and friends during thanksgiving too, then having turkey after!
TBow
NO! You're all missing the real reason why Canada's Thanksgiving is in October, a month earlier than the US. It's so all of us Canucks who are living on the border, can head stateside and buy our turkeys at $0.39/lb without having to wrestle with all our Pilgrim brotheren south of the border at the grocery stores! :hammer1: I mean like really! It's right in the Canadian manual! I got it straight from Rick Mercer! TBow
