Hunt or be Hunted
went for a walk in the woods Monday, And this was my first time taking a walk for sheds at this place...anyway started walking, saw a good deer trail that took me into some thicket so i was like "ahh might as well go see if there's anything in there". went in there, and there was a little trail that went off to the side so i went that way and this is what i found. I have never found anything like this before. to tellin how long he has been there. what you guys think? And to bad he died like that i never did shoot a spike so it was not me. Turkeygirl
Nice find...neat spike...a shame though like you said. I'd say he's been there at least 2 years...got moss growing onthe skull...no meat or anything on it, but in great shape!

camoman1
Cool find! I stumbled across a skull last week that looked pretty 'fresh'...the hide was off and it stunk. I went and checked where we bury our carcasses and sure enough the coyotes (?) dug it out. It was from the deer my girlfriend shot in December. The carried it about a half mile from where it was dug up. I agree, that one is a few years old.

buckee
Nice spiker. I've found plenty of deer remains like that in my travels. It's always sad when you find one, and always wonder what killed it.

DropTine49
Interesting, I didn't think that the squirrels would let one lay for that long, I would have thought that it wasn't that old.
Tominator
Neat. I'd say he's been there at least a year, and you must not have too many squirrels in your area. I have a spike skull kind of like that. The antlers on the one I have are curved like bananas.
