ricfirefighter
1st thing is welcome to the world of bows. Next don't pay to much attention to brands figure out what you can spend and shoot as many bows as posible, I'm going to guess that your draw will be 30 or 31 inches at 30 you can shoot most bows at 31 gets to be alittle harder to find bows that will fit you. Not sure were you are at but Cabelas has a couple of bows new in that price range but not many. You will have more choices probable going with a used bow if you only want to spend around 300. Diamond Archer 01
Welcome to the forums and to archery. I wouldn't focus on one brand just shoot some bows at a local pro shop and see which one best fits you and is in your price range. Good luck finding a bow and I hope this helps you a little bit. camoman1
Welcome to the forums!! I agree with what the other guys said. Figure out what you want to spend, and head to a place that has a few different bows and shoot them. Most places are willing to set up a bow for you to try out. I would say that most bow makers now are putting out a quality product. You could also look at a used bow.

RangerClay
Go to a Gander Mountain or a pro shop and get measured. I'm 6-2" and my draw is 29-1/2" . A 32" inch draw seems awful long to me. Good luck with your search. Try out as many bows as you can find. You may want to give the Mission line-up a try. You can get a new bow for the same price as some new bows. http://missionarchery.com/

Prairiepredator
Welcome to the forums Steve. Check out your local archery shop and test out some different brands and models of bows. It is honestly getting pretty hard to buy a bad bow anymore. Obviously some are a bit better than others, but all of them are pretty good quality. Martin makes some pretty good quality bows for reasonable prices. My brother has a Mission that was well priced and he loves it, he has also had a Martin before. Muleyman
First of all welcome to the forums and the world of bowhunting and archery! Ya just go to your local archery shop and get them to check your draw length and so on. There is many good bows out now a days and everyone has there opinions. So I wouldn't be worried about a specific brand. Try shooting a few different bows and see which one that you prefer. Here are a few things to look for: -smooth draw -no vibration -grip that is comfortable

johnf
I would go to any place that will let you shoot one and shoot as many as you can to find what you like. Bows are just like anything else, what one guy loves the next guy may not. It doesn't mean they aren't good bows, just a preference thing. When you find what you like start looking for a good used one. Archerytalk is a great place to find a good bow cheep, or less expensive. As always, ebay can be feast or famine I've heard of great deals and of guys getting burned.
