Adjam5
I grew up around all types of music and have broad tastes, and I have been called a young fogey for what I listen to. The wife says I was born too late. My old song taste runs from the Mills Brothers to Patsy Cline to Hank Williams to Doo Wop to Led Zep. Was just wondering how far back you go with the music you enjoy.

Diamond Archer 01
Sometimes my dad listens to old stuff like YES. I am not sure how old that is, but I know it is not considered new.
wtnhunt
Grew up working in a shop with guys who were for the most part 10-15 years older than me, listened to a station that played it all when it comes to classic rock. Zepplin, Lynard Skynard, the Who, the Stones, even used to listen to the beatles some. Of course I started working summers when I was 13. Still listen to a lot of classic rock when the kids are not in the truck with me, not so much on the oldies country music did not really get into country until the late 80's early 90's. camoman1
Most of the stuff I like is from the 80's on up. I like getting the Led out once in a while too. I know and can sing along with a good amount of the ''oldies'', but I wouldnt go as far as saying that I like them:p
GWSmith
Classical probably registers as old enough...LOL I grew up in a home where my older brother taught piano lessons and it kind of grows on you after awhile. Also some Eddie Arnold and some of the older country. Some of the older-new stuff...Rossington Collins Band, Molly Hatchet, BTO, Def Leppard, etc.... redkneck
I guess the oldest I like is the beatles, animals, and maybe one or two more from the 60's. After that I guess Aerosmith formed in 1970, and I pretty much like most rock bands from that time forward.
Dawg
Hank Sr. is about as far back as I go but there are times that I like to listen to some Beethoven and Mozart.

Tominator
Grew up listening to AM radio in dad's old Delta 88. He liked artists from the 40's 50's and early 60's. Guys like Andy Williams, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, etc. Dad's favorite was Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, Mom's was Johnny Mathis so we grew up listening to that stuff. Thanks to satellite radio, I put the "standards" station on during our family dinner time. Back when my kids were little, they enjoyed that stuff. Now that they're a little older, they prefer rock and pop stuff. I still make them listen to the standards though because I like it, and I think they'll remember family dinner time when they're older and hear an old song by Tony Bennett. muggs
The oldest thing in my iPod is probably The Beatles.
Hoosierbuck
The oldest would be classical stuff. I don't know exactly what the dates are on my faves in that genre, but way before cars with am radios! HB
TBow
Like others here, I grew up listening to my mom and dad's music from the 50s. Stuff like Patsy Cline, Eddie Arnold, Marty Robbins, etc. Most of my own picks on oldies would be from watching classic movies (well they weren't classics when I first watched them). When I hear some of the old film scores it kind'a brings back feelings that I felt when I first watched them. Moon River, Stand By Me, the film score from Gone With the Wind are just a few to mention. I can even get a toe tappin' listening to some of the music from the big band era, but that again is when I'm watchin' old classic movies from the 40s. I was a teenager during the 60s, so that era and the 70s I guess are my music. I love Motown. When they came out with the documentary, "In the Shadows of Motown" about the Funk Brothers, I think I watched it about 7 or 8 times. I used to work for RCA in the early 70s. RCA had Elvis Presley on contract then and they used to play his music over the loudspeakers, especially at christmas.......over and over and over again! If I ever hear "I'll Have Blue Christmas Without You" again by Elvis, I think I'll scream and yell, "MAKE IT STOP!":48:. I'm not much into heavy rock. My son-in-law bought my 5 month old grandaughter some LedZeppelin pj's a couple months ago. I was there baby-sitting one night and noticed the LZ garb. My sentiment was, "Poor kid! That's just wrong! Plain wrong!". TBow

dbHunterNY
Not sure... probably Otis Redding. "(Sittin' on) the dock by the bay" is probably the oldest song I listen to, but that's only '68 I think. Although I wasn't born until '83. ruttinbuc
I like music all the way back to whenever. Played the drums for a long time and you got to learn all genres. I enjoyed playing rock music the most. It is the most fun anyway. pe
