coles
The only squirrels we have up here in the woods are pine squirrels. We do have fox squirrels everywhere in missoula but of course cant hunt them in town. I have got the itch to hunt squirrels really bad and thought about goin to look for some pineys. Does anyone else hunt them? I have heard they arent good to eat and iwouldnt expect them to be since all they eat are pine cones. I just wanna get out hunting really bad since all the seasons are closed and there arent many coyotes around here.

Prairiepredator
I am pretty sure that is what we have here in northern sask. No squirrels at all where we live though.

WIwhitetailhunter
We've got them here. Noisy little buggers if they spot you! I haven't "hunted" them but I have taken a shot or two at the ones who have gotten real annoying!

coles
they are noisey for sure. I looked for some when i went out and shot my 22s up in the mountains but didnt see any. Heard one right behind my house yesterday but there are too many houses around to try to get a shot at him.
terry264
Most hunters around this part of the country will shoot these "fairydiddles" or "pine jacks" on sight. Just about totally worthless little red squirrels. Where they are you won't find but very few if any larger squirrels because these red squirrels will run them off. +1 on the noisy too.
