the cold air always makes it look a lot clearer! Probably freezes any of the crap that's in the air. :D

Nice pics Shaun :).

I noticed how bright the moon was earlier this evening.

It was huge when it came up on the horizon. I didn't have my camera, but wished I would have.

Nice pics! The moon was huge tonight!

Yep, you all weren't imagining things

Apparently the moon is at perigee today, and it coincides with a full moon. Rare sight tonight.

We had clouds. :(

What power lens did you use to get that kind of shot. Whenever I zoom in on the moon like that is just gets blurry.

I have a Sony a200 DSLR camera, these shots were taken with a 75-300mm lens on 300mm, ISO 100, 1/250 shutter speed. Took some tonight as the moon rose and had the same setup except with ISO 3200 because it wasn't bright until it got up farther in the sky. The key when taking these shots is stability. I had my camera on a couple towels on my window sill, and I hit the 10 second timer so I wouldn't move the camera when touching the shoot button. Tonight I was out on the river laying on the ice doing the same sort of thing.

These are the ones from tonight.
