TBow
A couple years ago, I purchased a used recurve on ebay. I'd been watching for that particular model for quite some time, but the high cost they went for always made me shy away from being the successful bidder. Well I finally came across a bow that was not in too bad a shape, but really needed some TLC in the refinishing catagory. The bow has been refinished before and all of the original markings and decals are gone. I purchased a can of Birchwood/Casey TRU-OIL Gun Stock Finish to give it a nice finish and intend on rubbing down the old coatings to smooth it all out. But what I don't have, are the replacement decals. I did notice an assortment a few years ago on ebay that were copies of the original decals, but they are no longer there and I am unable to locate anyone or anywhere that can supply them. Would anybody know of such a vendor or site where you can buy decals for older model bows for the purpose of refinishing? BTW: The bow is a Bear Super Magnum 48 (1966 to 1969 with black phoenolic riser) TBow

woolybear
These? The small Running Bear decal on the left was used by Bear from 1948 until 1953, with the larger Standing Bear decal replacing it in mid-1953 and lasting until the 1955-56 model years. Beginning in 1955-56 Bear began using the silk-screened logo shown on the far right.
TBow
I need the logo on the far right which goes on the inside of the bottom limb I believe. I also need the Super Magnum 48 decal that goes on the inside of the upper limb. TBow
woolybear
TBow- it's my understanding that those logos were inked onto the bow and not actual decals you would be able to purchase. My Grizzly is the same.
TBow
wb, I actually saw the very silk-screened or reproduced decals that I needed a few years ago on ebay. Someone had a whole series of Bear bow decals that they were selling individually for the specific purpose of refinishing older Bear bows. Not sure whether they made them or had bought ends of lines from Bear or a company making the decals for Bear, but I did actually see them posted. Where I used to work, they had a computer operated sign making system. They had the capability and materials of scanning and making what I needed way back when, but I'm retired now and the sign shop is no longer there due to downsizing and privatization. I posted over on ArcheryTalk.com in the trad section to see if anyone had any leads. TBow
