RangerClay
The gentleman who owns the land I have been deer hunting on since I was 16 has passed away. At age 92, Frank didn't feel well after dinner. He laid down on the couch for a nap and never woke up. He passed away at his son's house in Vermont. Frank was a tree farmer and a looooong time conservationist. Now I would like to send something to the family other than the ordinary condolences card or flowers. What could I send the family that would be different?
Tominator
How about a tree, planted by you and your kids on his property somewhere?
bfletch7441
Do you have any old pictures of him, stories to tell, ...? Ben
Adjam5
Do you have any old pictures of him, stories to tell, ...? Ben I agree Joe. How about a nice letter of how far back you remember him, the things he taught you and the fun time you guys had when you were together, the relationship you shared. People may die, but memories last forever. It is always nice to know someone made an impact on your life. That I am sure his family will appreciate. My condolences. PotashRLS
How about a tree, planted by you and your kids on his property somewhere? Or a gift certificate for the tree of their choice that you would plant like Chris stated. Gives them the choice to be involved also. buckee
How about an art print depicting trees. It was something dear to his heart, and would be a great tribute. examples;

redkneck
Frank was a tree farmer and a looooong time conservationist. Maybe a financial contribution to a particular organization in his name? Dont know if he contributed to any conservation organizations financially or not. GWSmith
You have a good heart Joe...I like the idea you have to honor him as well. I would not count yourself out short though...Sit down and write something to the family from your heart about what he meant to your family;)
Tominator
I really like that tree idea, it's something that will last a long time! Just make sure you wrap some mesh around it so the deer don't tear it up, eh?
RangerClay
Just make sure you wrap some mesh around it so the deer don't tear it up, eh? Gotcha! I planted several apple trees in my yard last year so I have mesh left over from them. Thanks again Chris.

redkneck
I planted a pin oak the day we buried my father in law. I dont know why I did, but he loved trees and taught me a lot about them. As it grows, it's a constant reminder of that day, and the time that has passed. A good thing to do for sure Joe.
