Buddy's Uncle is Dying of Cancer

Just talked to my buddy Rob yesterday. He wasn't sure if I'd heard yet, but his uncle John found out he has cancer. Seems John likely put off the warning signs and neglected to tell family of his feeling ill for the past several months. John is not married and doesn't have kids. He is in his upper 50s and is an avid outdoorsman and wonderful guy. We used to have some AWESOME times up at their family cabin on the Oconto River back in High School and after. Rob and myself and our other buddies all grew up together since grade school. We've all been friends since our minds can remember. I remember when we were freshmen in High School, I helped John track a buck he shot with the bow. Rob was laid up back in the cabin with a broken leg from football. We were out most of the night tracking his deer on specks of blood and muddy prints. I'll never forget that. He's a great fella that always made us feel welcome up there and wouldn't hesitate to join in the fun too.

John lost his brother several years ago to stomach cancer. At that time, the brother's were made aware that they needed to be vigulant about there own health and the possibility for contracting cancer themselves due to heredity. John let things go apparantly and did not do the necessary screenings and such. It will never be known if it would have mattered but the cancer is now in his liver, bones and kidneys. He is terminal:(. So for all you's out there that are at the ages where you should be screening for all those variety of issues, please do it. Be proactive because being reactive to cancer is often a game that can't be won. Please include John and his family in your thougths and prayers.

Thanks,

Tracy
