bowhuntMN Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 I saw a show a while back with Glenn beck talking about modern day heroes and his opinion on what a hero is. He was joined by a few other people (mostly authors) and they all shared their thoughts. I was surprised that almost everything he said and believes in matches my own thoughts and beliefs. A little while ago i looked him up online and watched more of his shows, and it seems that him and i agree on a lot of things. After seeing this, i looked at his life before tv and radio and found that he had a pretty interesting childhood, from his mother's death to drug abuse and now sobriety. What also made me happy was that he takes a firm stand in the right to bear arms and he slams PETA just about every chance he gets. But i also saw the amount of criticism he gets from others. I could understand this because he doesn't have a large educational background since he only has a high school diploma and withdrew from the only class he took in college. I was wondering what everybody's thoughts were about him. And also, what is his stance on hunting? I saw him talking about the punks who shot Marcus Luttrell's dog and he said that killing animals is straight up wrong and he would actually stand "shoulder-to-shoulder" with PETA on that issue. Does he mean killing domestic/pet animals is wrong? Or all animals in general? He seems more like someone I would meet at a backyard BBQ instead of a Rush or Hannity type. I like that. Libertarians want smaller government...ie more personal freedoms to do what one pleases as long as it does not affect others negatively. They are neither right or left wing. I am a fan of Beck. Im reading his book "Arguing with Idiots'' at this time. Its not your standard reading material, but it is very intersting and frustrating to learn what truths he has revealed about the government. Glenn is very pro 2nd ammendment and is one of the first guys to make Cass Sunstein look like a fool. elkoholic Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 While I agree with many of Glenn's ideas and his views of what is happening in our government, he is basically a "talking head". In that respect he is part of the problem and does not even realize it. He is greatly overpaid, as are all entertainers, and that is all he is. When a society places more value on entertainment, be it sports, acting, singing or whatever "court jester" has the "it" factor at the time, than it does on the people who are holding the society together, that is the medical profession, the business leaders, the educators, and the common workers getting it done day to day, then it is a society in trouble. We don't get his show up here anymore though, for some strange Canadian nazi liberal TV channel reason. I'm glad there was someone, who had the attention of a lot of other people, and who believed in a lot of the same values and stood on the same side as me on a lot of different issues. He rambles and goofs around a bit too much to keep my attention. He's got his facts straight...which is more than the President or his puppets can say. He's entertaining but what makes it so entertaining is that he speaks the truth and in the current political climate that is something that is sorely lacking! It funny that this thread pops up now because I just finished reading "Ted, White and Blue" by the Nuge and am now into "Arguing With Idiots' by Beck.
