OUTSIDER
I served with a few homosexual individuals while in the AF, they were soldiers just like the rest of us, they trained like we did, did everything like we did. And just for the record they bleed like we do as well. I think a few of you are jumping to the conclusion far too fast.
Tominator
I think what Chris was referring to was the fact that the majority of people here would be worried about serving with a gay guy because they're afraid they'd be an object of desire for them. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I also think he's saying that this sort of homophobic reaction is a product of fear, which I think is pretty hard to argue. Yep, that's what I was referring to. I've known a few gay guys, there's one on our staff now, and I've taught more than a few--both ones I KNOW are gay (flamers) and closet ones I'm sure. I don't agree with their lifestyle, but it doesn't bother me or threaten me in any way. They make me laugh more than anything. I've never had a gay guy approach me, which means I'm not attractive to them, or they know I'm not gay so they don't approach me. I just think this "concern" (since I can't use the word fear, apparently) about gays in the military is unfounded.

We need to remember there's no draft anymore, these men and women sign up for service. That needs to be commended and appreciated. Especially considering the current state of affairs, and the risk they're exposing their lives to. If a gay guy is willing to serve is country, who am I to say he shouldn't be allowed to do that? It's a much larger patriotic sacrifice than I ever made, and I'm sure it's more than the majority of people who say he shouldn't be allowed to serve have made. We need to keep that in mind. redkneck
Good one Trace! Chris I think teaching a homosexual, or working with one (which I have on more than one occasion without issue or discomfort) is a far cry from showering with one. Just my opinion guys, I totally think the men and women in uniform are far more entitled to decide their own fate than I am. Maybe it would work fine. I have no doubt that many gays have made far more contributions to the security of this country than I ever will, but I truly feel the existing policy should be left alone. And for the record, I was the object of one of the flamer's desire, lol.... guess I'm cuter than you Chris....... lol. Wouldnt have wanted to drop the soap there bud for sure. m gardner
I believe that the homosexuals in the military will probably be getting hitched and living on base with their spouses too. This is going to turn into quite a circus. It'll drive alot of good people out of the volunteer military we have right now. By the way I did 8 years in the 10th Mountain Infantry. As for fear. I fear God. That's it. Got all the scars to prove I fear nothing else. I choose to not associate with them or the people who love porn or do drugs or pursue other sorts of abberant behavior. I love God and wish to please Him. You, please live as you wish.

stevebeilgard
as pointed out so well above, homophobia is a fear of homosexuals. i don't fear them. they simply disgust me and i don't want to know them, associate with them, or do anything with them. the bible calls homosexuals and "abomination". i think god knows what he's talking about. i'll stick with him, thank you, and not even partake in arguments against him.
