Stone Cold
First off I want to say that I would really tell some of you shed hunters that Grid Searching is the way to go. I was grid searching when I came on this possum and started taking pictures. I then turned around and then spotted this 9 point set 15 yards away. On the drive home I came on this other fella with a fresh catch so it was a good day for both of us.

DeerHunter15
That's a great set.....what is Grid Searching?
Stone Cold
With the block of woods that I search I take it one section at a time. I walk back and forth to cover all the ground instead of just walking on trails and so on. This set was way off a path and in a bed. The nearest path was over 20 yards away. deershed
Nise set!! Grid searching is basic shedhunting for me.The big question fort me is how many searches I make in an area before scratching that area off for the season. Stone Cold
I always hit mine at least once at start of season and once at end of season. That way I know there is not any left for the squirrels. I have hit this spot about three times then today I found these.
toddyboman
great find!! Congrats! Grid searching is a must for searching the woods
deershed
You know your in a hot area when you hit a spot a couple days apart 3 or 4 times and find sheds each trip. Some of my areas other shedhunters are searching too so I have to hit them hard. Usually early in the season or if I know there's still buck in an area still carrying I save time hitting the high percentage areas only.As the season goes on or I don't see any buck still carrying I start grid pattern searching areas out from the high percentage areas. If I'm looking for a certain antler or know there's a big one laying somewhere I might grid pattern search the entire area at any time. When my sightings of buck still carrying stops or my shed finds stop I grid pattern the entire area then cover those out of the way areas the deer seem to avoid and seldom use.
