Leaving stands out all year

How many of you leave your stands in the woods all year? I'll leave my ladder stands out as the ratchet is easily replaceable, but I loosen them after season. My lock ons and climbing sticks/ladders I pull. I just don't like those stands left in the woods and trusting the straps to hold. Plus those pesky squirrels will chew the seats and straps too. I know other guys that leave them in the woods all year, I guess I'm just more concerned with safety.

My ladder stands are all homemade steel stands, they are all for the most part somewhat permanent. I replace the wooden seats on them as needed and also replace the rope as needed. Occasionally I will move one, but they stay out year round.

My seat on my summit got chewed up a bit this fall. I hunted it maybe a half dozen times with the bow, and brought it home the weekend after season closed. Don't like to leave my climbing sticks or hangon stand out and pull them nad my other climber after season closes every year.

A good tip if you leave stands out all year is to take some of that spray foam and fill in all the hollows that are visible. Those could get rain and/or snow into them. Rust and rot to the inside where they are not painted or powder coated is a big enemy to them. I have only 2 chain on stands that I leave out all the time and 3 ladder stands that I loosen the ratchet strap on after the season. I also put a steel cable around them with a lock as to not ease in the theft of the stand either by loosening it for the thief.

I leave all my ladders out but I loosen all of them to allow for tree growth.

I pull all my hang-on stands but I loosen the sticks and leave them on the tree if I know I'm going to hang a stand in that same tree next year. If I know I'm not going to hang a stand there next year everything gets pulled.

I just put a 2 man out the begining of the season and im not gonna take it down. I also have a really heavy hang on that is called the bark o lounger it weighs 35 pounds and i never take that down. Still have the same straps on it from 3 or 4 years ago. I think next year its definately time to do a little maintenance on it so the tree dont grow into it or fall out of the tree.
