Hillbilly
I know this is the equipment forum, but I was wondering if anyone uses Antler King. My hunting buddy and I are planting Three food plots. Two of them are gonna be fall blend Mossy Oak Biologic. The last one we wanna plant something else. This food plot isn't going to be near the other two. It's on our bosses field. So please any info on Antler King Proiducts will be mighty appreciated. AaronS
Re: Antler King Food Plots I have 3 acres of Antler King Trophy Blend Clover that is about 4 years old. I didn't do a great job of weed control early on and have been battling them since the beginning. Early on, the clover really drew in the deer. It has seemed to lose its attractiveness the past couple of years and as soon as I can, I plan to replant. I probably won't go with Antler King next time. I have nothing negative to say about their product, I just want to try something different like Hammann Farms and Tecamate.
wtnhunt
Re: Antler King Food Plots If you have not bought the biologic stuff yet, I wouldnt if I was you. Have had very poor results with biologic food plot seeds. I have never tried antler king products, so know nothing about them. I would strongly recommend checking hamannfarms blends. I have had pretty good results with them and Todd(dogdoc) has also had great results with his hamannfarms blends.
VtBowhunter
Re: Antler King Food Plots Hamannfarms........is this based out of the south and is that where they do there testing? I'm curious because we're doing food plots here in Vermont this year and I don't want to invest money or time in a product that isn't tested to withstand the climate here. wtnhunt
Re: Antler King Food Plots Yep, Todd is right, Martins seeds are produced in the north. They are proven cold weather tolerant. Another thing I will add here is that I am very impressed by the tolerance to drought by Martins seeds. I was concerned that our grower plot which we planted last spring was failing due to the extreme drought we had here last summer. Once the rains in the fall picked up it started really coming on, and it looks great now. Cannot wait til this spring, will get some pics of the plots soon. dogdoc
Re: Antler King Food Plots William---I was also impressed with the drought tolerance of his seeds. Last summer we went about 5 weeks with no rain---I just knew I would loose the entire plot. I called Martin--he said--don't worry about it bud--it will do fine--and sure enough it did! Turkeygirl
I tried Antler King last spring...didn't grow well for me. Went back to Evolved Harvest which grows very well.
dbHunterNY
Old post I see. I've used Antler King Honey Hole and it worked great... after the season. The deer hammered it once it got real cold and everything else was gone or brown. The Honey Hole mix was as green as the day it started growing. It matures and pulled in deer too late for me though.
