gzilla45
Got back yesterday morning from a 3 day trip to Oklahoma hog hunting. What a blast!! We hunted at the Red Dirt Boar Ranch in Carney and we already booked for next year. The guide Shane and owners Jim and Christine were nothing but wonderful hosts. This was my first trip to OK and I was impressed. It is definitely some awesome country. My camera broke on the way home so I'm hoping to get my pictures uploaded as soon as possible. I can't wait to get the meat back from the processor. Those brats are going to be delicious.
gzilla45
The lack of sleep is making me forget things. I shot an 85 pound boar the first night we were there. It was the smallest out of the 7 we shot but definitely was the nastiest looking.

gzilla45
Hopefully these pics show up. I miss Oklahoma already although it has been a royal pain in the butt trying to get the red mud off of all of my clothes.

gzilla45
Thanks. We had so much fun that I think we are going to do this every year. It was a fairly cheap trip and it is always nice to be able to go south for a few days during the Wisconsin winter. The hogs are being processed as we speak and I can't wait to get them back. The ribs and hams are being smoked and the rest will be brats and breakfast sausages.

WIwhitetailhunter
I didn't doubt for a second you guys would not have a blast! No doubt, Shane, Jimmy, and Christine are top notch. So was I right about the number of pigs you'd see and then trying to figure out which one to shoot? Fun, fun. Anyone try the bow? If so, any luck? Funny about the red mud. I just came in from blowing snow and noticed red dirt on my boots. I was there in October and I still have traces of it!! Like you, I would definately recommend the Red Dirt Boar Ranch. I give it a 7 out of 5!!! Congrats!! The brats, breakfast sausage, and ham are tasty. You won't be disappointed. Not much meat on the ribs though. gzilla45
They definitely went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. Those boys definitely like to play poker! From my stand I actually didn't see any big pigs but we stalked them the second day and really saw some big ones. That is how we are going to hunt them next time. It was much more fun than sitting in the stand although that wasn't bad either. We didn't bring bows with us this time but next year we will. Most guys used a muzzleloader. I'll probably do the same next time around. I had mud in pretty much everything including my suitcase which never left he lodge. And yeah my boots are going to be red for quite some time. It gives it character though.
Jeramie
Looks like you had fun! Keep all of that red dirt you want. We have more. The funny part is its mainly west of Tulsa. The east side of the state doesnt have near the red dirt the central and west has. I didnt know they even had boars in oklahoma Oh yeah, Oklahoma has good hog populations.
