Tominator
Sure sounds like reflux to me. Matt had that. Zantac and he was a new baby.
bfletch7441
Finally gave in and let her sleep with us which helped quite a bit. All of ours have slept with us for around 6-9 months. When they start making it all night without waking up, we put them in their beds. Ben
PotashRLS
Is he sleeping on his back? I know he's old enough to switch sleeping positions on his own, but we've found that Breylen sleeps 100000000000 times better on his belly and that was the problem with him for those nights that he kept waking us up with his screaming. Once we placed him on his belly, he zonks out for hours and only wakes up twice a night for a feeding and changing, then goes right back to sleep. Be careful of the belly sleeping unless the baby can turn themselves over. The belly sleeping is linked with SIDS in some babies. They basically suffocate. Ashley
Be careful of the belly sleeping unless the baby can turn themselves over. The belly sleeping is linked with SIDS in some babies. They basically suffocate. I know, I was hesitant and very worried about SIDS and would check to make sure he was breathing every fifteen minutes because I was so paranoid. He's been doing perfectly fine, though. In some infants, my pediatrician said there's no other way to put them to sleep except on their stomachs, especially in infants who have certain health problems or stomach conditions. Of course I am aware of the SIDS factor and I've discussed this with my public health nurse as well as the pediatrician many times and I know sleeping on their backs is the standard sleep position, but I was told that he is fine to sleep on his belly as long as he can turn his head from side to side and adjust himself properly, which he does. He takes his naps during the day on his belly as well and he will pick up his whole head and turn it to the other side when he needs to. He always turns it to the side, never face down, which is how many of the babies die of SIDS because they can't control their heads yet and end up suffocating themselves. At night, he sleeps right next to the bed in his cradle by Andy and I, so I keep a very close eye on him and always make sure he has his head turned to the side before we go to sleep. We don't have anything fluffy or anything that can restrict his airway in the crib, only a sheet covering the mattress pad, which is very flat and stiff. He will not sleep any other way, and we have tried-- it results in sleepless nights much like Kyle described of his little guy.
doubledrop
my daughter had 4 teeth at 4 months old, I went through all of this as well Kyle she was colic and had acid reflux which i am sure she got from me. the sound of a sweeper running was the only thing that could make her quit crying. I know it sounds crazy but it worked.
The_Kat
Up again and been crying for about an hour and a half. I just can't understand whats going on. Gonna call the pediatrician in the morning to get him looked at. He's so tired he can't stand it, but every 15 seconds or so he cries out and tenses up. Daddy is at his whits end. Slash
Just got Breylen back to sleep (I hope). He slept pretty good from about 7:30 to 12:30 then wanted to stay up for almost 2 hours. I know how frustrated you are feeling but know that it's just a phase, much like the rest of our babies life, there will be phases. Sounds like some good advice on here too. Let us know what the doc says.
dartonman
Im gonna have to go with teething....Colic is also the possibility...I have 5 great kids, and I know about the late nights....another good thing is if he is teething, use baby oragel, and rub them gums good...and if he is filling that little belly with air, you sit upright in a chair, and put him on his chest and belly and rub his back...gets rid of the gas......if your up this weekend with him, pm me, Ill give you my cell....between you, your wife, me and my wife, we can figure this out......Im a natural night owl...at work now at 325 am al

The_Kat
Well we got a second opinion today and the doc found a severe inner ear infection. Poor lil guy....got him on antibiotics now so hopefully he'll be better in a few days.
wtnhunt
Man that stinks for Cash, good thing you took him back in Kyle and hope the antibiotics knock it out quick. Sometimes with ear infections a kid might not run a fever. Sometimes you will get warning signs in little ones who cannot tell you what hurts. Seems like when they were at ages too young for them to say what hurt ours pulled at their ears some when they had ear infections.
Tominator
Cool that you got it figured out Kyle. Hope he heals up quick.

Slash
Glad the problem was found, hope he gets better quickly, so now that you think about it, was he pulling at his ears or rubbing them at all?
PotashRLS
Did they check for ears infections? Not all babies pull at their ears or run a temp. If he was to the pediatrician, I suspect they did look in his ears. When in doubt, count to 10 or in this case 100 or so and then count your blessings. Never be afraid of your parental gut feeling. If Cash looks to be in pain or arches a lot when screaming, I would have him checked out. Peace of mind can be priceless with babies. Good Luck. Why does something so simple get past so many doctors??? Too few actually do a thorough examine. Some just plain waste your money and time. Glad little Cash will get some relief..........and Mom and Dad too.
The_Kat
He slept all through the night lastnight.....YAY! And yes he rubbed his eyes and scratched at his face and ears some.
buckee
Poor little guy. I hope that infection clears up real quick.
BowJoe
As much as I enjoy seeing you suffer, I hate hearing about my little buddy having to put up with you and having to deal with ear problems. Stay on top of that ear problem and check it often. This problem can affect him for the rest of his life if you let it go too long. Poor kid's got enough to deal with what with Daddy having the same name as his daddy's idol Kyle Busch. LOL! All kidding aside, I'd try putting a little fan next to his crib and point it away from everyone. It doesn't have to be really loud but white noise will do wonders for his sleeping. Worked with both of my girls. Good luck man.
