muggs
Oh man, I liked him best. Very sad news. I guess all that chain smoking finally caught up with him. He definitely wasn't healthy. Thoughts and prayers out to his family.
Newarcher
I love that show and I liked him as one of the very best. I can't imagine the lifestyle (little rest, smoking, sitting a LOT, etc.) would be good for the body. May he have sometime found the Lord before he passed. Prayers to the family. NS whitetail
I just saw that on the news, way to young at 53 He will be missed I googled about him and came upon this site that had comments............. here is what one idiot had to say : Awesome. Anyone who kills and maims other living creatures just for fun, sport, and kicks, deserves to die I guess this guys statement can apply to us all here at RT :jaw: :D
Nut
I only have maybe 1 or 2 beers a year but would have gladly have a few with him. To me he seemed the most real and had not allowed the cameras to affect what he did. Prayers to the family.
RangerClay
That is one of my favorite shows and he was one of my favorite Captains. I really enjoyed watching him work with his sons. It broke my heart watching him leave his ship when his health started to fail. Does anyone know if he became ill at sea? That is snow crab season up there. RangerClay
What is that drink (shot) that they all have before they go out to sea? It would be fun to make one and toast his memory.

gzilla45
That's too bad. He seemed like a genuine guy. I'm sure they will have a show dedicated to him once the new season starts back up.

Tominator
Oh man, I liked him best. Very sad news. I guess all that chain smoking finally caught up with him. He definitely wasn't healthy. Thoughts and prayers out to his family. Ditto. I remember the show a couple years ago when he put himself in the hospital. A body can't sustain that lifestyle too long. It is a stress high job. My Dad, before he quit smoking a few years back used to smoke at least 3 , 25 packs a day :jaw:

stevebeilgard
he was a good one. i watched him a lot, and he was good. but you have to understand what's behind the camera for most of these guys and that is hard boozing while in port. and i mean hard! i've seen these guys do 2 cases of beer a day or 3 fifths of whisky. hard core drinking for days on end. not him, per se, but his ilk and lifestyle. it's all over alaska as kyle will confirm in about a year.
