Yellowhammer
The water pump on my 1993 Chevy truck is pouring antifreeze so I guess I got no choice but to replace it. I bought the truck new in 93 and this will be the first water pump that I have put on it. I hope the next pump will last 17 years like this one did. Tominator
Funny, I just had mine replaced Friday. Noticed a low coolant light about a month ago, I added some, but then noticed a drip or two in the snow so I had it checked out. Mechanic said it was starting to go, so I had it replaced. My Silverado is almost 7 years old with over 102K miles on it, and that was the first major thing to go on that truck (other than the normal wear and tear stuff). My next truck will be another Silverado.:camera:
redkneck
I replaced mine after ten years in my silverado. I miss the old days when they were only $20, lol. Mine was $135, but not too bad a job.

Hope it pays for itself.

I know the GM pumps up here are over $300. 99 times out of 100 it's the 25 dollar gaskets between the block and the pump that leak, not the actual pump.:taped:

My bearings were screaming like crazy and even locked up a few times and caused the crank pulley to spin and squeal on the belt before I could get home. I mean in the Gen III/IV 4.8/5.3/6.0L engines, the 4.3/5.0/5.7L engines it's usually the pump itself.

I hear the newer ones are more $. I guess that's the GMT900s.

You should have heard my truck when you started it up. Unbearable squeal. Don't really know Shaun. I mean, I know how to teach and plant corn. I'm a moron when it comes to auto mechanics. You need to move to Ohio Shaun.
