trappers?

I was just wondering how many trappers that are on here and what all you guys or gals trap and what are your numbers for this year?

I have been trapping on and off for the past 30+ years. I mostly trap coon now. But back in my younger days nobody could trap muskrats like I did.

I am kind of a wanna be trapper. I have the traps and necessary gear but it seems like I always run out of time to do it or there is too much snow.

My uncle is a trapper, I'll ask him what his numbers are for the year next time I talk to him. He traps beavers, muskrat, otter, mink, fisher, marten, wolf and fox.

Me and my cousin trap coyotes a little. We ran a few traps for several weeks this winter. We caught 4 coyotes, 1 coon, and 1 bobcat. We should have had one more coyote but he got the snare cable wrapped around a small tree and chewed through it. We caught everything else in foothold traps.

I kinda gave up on it caught one coyote, one raccoon and what kinda did me in I caught something but it got away with the trap and felt kinda bad. Instead of trapping I decided just to hunt with a gun with out traps. But its kinda fun becouse you never know what you will get.

I'm trapping about 5 years now. Mostly getting coon and possum.A bunch of house cats that I let go.

Oh yeah... and one beaver. I am learning with each set up..

I just started this past November. Caught one mink and one muskrat and had something pull my trap (I know it wasn't stolen, but I think it was a coon). I started late and within two weeks the ice had formed on my trapline. I butchered both skinning jobs...but I'm learning and am now addicted to trapping!

i know what you mean about it being addictive Dakota, i started a few years ago and trapping was all i wanted to do.

But i guess since i started this one i should probably share my info. i have been trapping for about 4 years now. I didnt trap near as much this year as i did the last few years. mainly the reason being that last year i had 18 traps stolen. i know a few were probably my fault but still.....And for what i trap and wat i have caught; i trap mink, muskrat, beaver, coyote, coon, and fox. this year i have only caught 7 coon and 2 squirrels. not a very good year compared to the rest but we all have em.

I have trapped for over 35yrs and now trap mostly fox and coyotes,I avg 25-30 season.

Goin on 46 years trapping now. I'm a proffessional Nuisance Wildlife Control Specialist licensed by the state of Illinois. That's what I do for a living. I trap coons, possums, skunks, muskrats, beavers, squirrels, woodchucks, fox, coyotes, bats and a few others. Even had a couple calls for ex-wives...LOL just kiddin...Numbers, honestly, I get tired of counting.
