Bigfoot.

Why is it that everytime I get ready to head to the stand I start thinking about Bigfoot, Blair Witch, escaped convicts, or every other spooky creature I can think of. I walk to my stand with no flash light so every little critter I hear gets me a little jumpy. Do you guys get this way?

Re: Bigfoot.

We had a kid in our group that was afraid of the dark. He would not walk to his stand alone if it was dark. He only had to walk 200 yards through a cut corn field and he could see the barn. LOL! This kid was definately not the pick of the litter.

Re: Bigfoot.

I hunted some land in Georgia a couple of years ago. It had an old cemetery on it, from the late 1700's and early 1800's tombstone's. Man I hated to walk past that in the dark. Other than things of that nature, I'm okay with it. Or a fox that sounds like the baby screaming from the movie "It's Alive". Some of the older members will know what movie I'm talking about. That was the only time I've heard that sound, except for opening day this year. I was glad to be up a tree and hoped that thing making that noise couldn't climb a tree. Found out after daylight it was a female fox, and she was doing the same noise towards a big bobcat. I was just glad it wasn't that evil, hairless, hopping little baby! LMBOROF

Re: Bigfoot.

I've been going to my stand not thinking about anything but being quiet and out of no where the hair stands up on the back of my neck, talk about a freaky feeling! It never happens when I have my gun only with my bow, I actually took an arrow out and walked with it one time because I had the weirdest feeling come over me, I was never so happy to get into my stand. I would never tell anybody at my camp this because they live for this kind of prank playing ammo.

Re: Bigfoot.

Not really. Sometimes I think to myself...."hey, you are a mile back in the woods, wouldn't it suck if a big hairy creature jumped out in front of you right now?" I think one side of my brain likes to scare the other side. But the way I look at it, I've either got a bow with broadheads or a gun, so the bigfoots and the little green men from Mars can bring it on!! crazy.giflaugh.gif

Re: Bigfoot.

I remember on Thanksgiving day back in 2001, I was walking to my stand at 6am and it was completely dark. So I was walking in a cornfield and to the right of me there was some trees and some tall grass. Anyways I'm walking and I hear this like snarling sound of animal tearing apart a rabbit or a small rodent. It sounded fairly close. So I stop and shine my flashlight in the direction I heard it and didn't see anything. I stood there for 5 mins till I didn't hear anything else and walked off to my spot. But every 2 mins I was looking all around me just to make sure nothing was coming up from behind me lol. And the worst thing is it was foggy so you could only see 10 yards in front of you.

That was the only time I've ever been scared in the woods lol wink.gif

Re: Bigfoot.

I got spooked the other morning on my way to the stand.

I kept hearing leaf rustling near me and know I would of scared away a deer if it was that close. I had a mini-mag flashlight and scanned the area but saw nothing. As soon as it was off again I heard the leaves again.

I was freaked out remembering the big black bear attack story recently of a big black that stalked a hunter and killed him. i think it was alaska but I know we got black bear in VT too and it made me nervous just the same. I mean panning a mini mag flashlight on a black bear in the dark would not show anything. The thing could of been right on me before I knew it.

Well I made in and out alive...to tell the tale

Just "barely"... LOL shocked.gifcrazy.gifsmirk.gif

It was probably a coon, we have those too... smirk.giftongue.gif

Re: Bigfoot.

A couple of years back, during our Wi. gun season, I was walking in about 2 miles, at about 4:30AM, when 2 does almost ran me over. They stopped at about 10ft and couldn't figure out what I was, The moon was out, with about 2" of snow on the ground. You can see pretty good that way. Another time, same genreal area, I was cutting through a clear cut, opening morning, no snow, and just about stepped on a big deer, I think it was a buck, but I could have reached out and touched it. That scared me pretty good. When you have bear, and wolves in the area, you kind of get the ebe-jebe's at times. smile.gif
