redkneck
Girls are going to play softball this year and needed a new bat. I got a 29" 18oz bat for them, but not sure if it's what they need. What size do you get for a ten year old, 61" tall and about 95lbs? I figure somebody in here knows something as usual, lol. Some internet charts say 29", some say 31". Opinions?
rhine16
I'm no softball coach John, but I've umpired a good many softball games for kids that age. I think most for that age are either 29 or 30". By the way, I'm assuming you're talking fast pitch. For slow pitch you'd probably want it a little heaver and an inch or two longer. Tominator
Depends on the girl and the league bud. Make sure you know what rules your girl is playing under. I'm going to guess she's in a USSSA league as most girls of her age are. Some of those bat manufacturers got so good at making bats, they made them too dangerous. Thin wall bats were outlawed in our league, so make sure you check on that before you buy. Short answer is, your daughter should swing as much bat as she can handle. Give her a few and watch her swing them. You'll know when she's struggling to get it around. Most of our girls swung bats between 27 and 30 ozs., but I coached high school girls.
