92xj
So, I made an offer on another house yesterday and the offer was accepted. The first seller was being a complete tool and was not doing things by the book. The last thing I want is something that he does coming back and biting me in the end. So, I told the dude I was out and that he needed to sign his little paper and return my money. Within 15 minutes I had my money back and the letter signed. Two hours after that I had an offer on another house. I actually think this second house will be so much better for me. For 1k less than the first home. I get 250 more Sq ft, twice the back yard, "RV" parking on the side of the house, and a fridge. I still have to buy a washer and dryer, but that's no big deal. This summer I will paint the outside. I think I am only going to be able to stand the blue for a couple of months. Also, when I move in I will be paiting the teal green wall in the kitchen and den area. That has to go! Everything else I can live with. I have the inspection thursday(tomorrow) morning at 9, so hopefully everything passes and this house actually works out. Wish me luck. joeaveragehunter
Good looking house. i don't mind the blue that much, but yes the teal may look better as a rustic red or whatever. hope the inspection turns out good.
layin on the smackdown
Nice lookin pad Benny...Looks fairly similar to the other house you were looking at. Golly man, i agree, who was in charge of that color scheme??? Even if the garage door was white, it would contrast enough to look good - but all blue is too much. kinda looks like a smurfatorium ...Good luck with the inspection, i hope it goes well! oh ya, have fun taping all those edges in your new kitchen :poke: :bang:

92xj
When you send me my airline ticket Its only a 4 maybe 5 hour drive tops, it would be quicker to drive!! Serious note here. Brush, roller or spray a house?
ruttinbuc
Nice looking place as far as the layout goes, Ben. Does need new paint. Some people are color blind I guess. Good luck with it!
Alisha
WOW! That blue is just a little much. I'm sure your new neighbors will thank you when you paint the exterior. lol! Actually, I like this house better than the other one you had made an offer on. This one just seems "homier". Although the teal has gotta go..... :helpsmilie: Hopefully everything goes smooth with this one... best of luck to ya Ben! Can't wait to see the "after" pictures! buckee
Its only a 4 maybe 5 hour drive tops, it would be quicker to drive!! Serious note here. Brush, roller or spray a house? Powerwash first, allow enough days to dry real good, then, Brush and roll. Work your way down from the top, 2 or 3 boards at a time so as not to get overlap lines on the siding. Cut in with the brush, under the soffets and between the boards, and roll. On the side where the boards are going up and down, just cut in between each board and roll away. 92xj
10-4, I will wash while you get all the painting stuff ready. Paint trim first and then tape off to paint the walls. Or walls first and tape them once dry then paint trim? Question for both inside and out.

buckee
10-4, I will wash while you get all the painting stuff ready. Paint trim first and then tape off to paint the walls. Or walls first and tape them once dry then paint trim? Question for both inside and out. Buy yourself a good "2 1/2" Sash Brush" Inside: Cut in by hand carefully along ceiling/wall, along top of baseboards, inside corners and around window frames, let dry and do it again. (requires 2 coats always) Then roll, being very careful to backroll each time paint is applied. It requires a little expertise. All trim is painted last. I only use tape around the window and door frames. Test wall and trim paint first with a little Acetone on a rag to see if it's oil base or latex base paint. If it's oil, it won't want to come off. If it's latex it will get sticky, and start to wipe off. If the wall paint is oil, you will have to prime first, before applying your latex paint. If the trim is oil, you could just go over it with more white oil paint to keep it the same as the rest of the house, or prime and make the switch to a good semi-gloss latex. If switching to latex, I suggest you prime all trim and baseboards, before doing walls. I use a top quality Kitchen and bath eggshell finish paint on entire interiors. It stands up better and is way more washable than ordinary eggshell finishes. Rolling walls, is a real nack. You fill up your roller with paint, then apply it about 2 or 2 1/2 roller widths. Repeat this 3 times and then backroll with the dry roller. By dry, I mean the same roller, but without adding paint to it. It's hard to explain this process. Adjam5
Good luck with the house Ben. Yeah..that blue has to go. Make sure the inspector does a lead paint test if the house was built before 1976. You do NOT want to be sanding lead paint. Right Steve? Will it be a second home or an investment property? 92xj
Nice Ben..... where's my room at? Dude, I can't afford a 2k sq ft house, but I do have a 12 man tent you can sleep in, in the backyard!!! I might need your help in paiting the outside, I don't have a ladder and figured you could just reach it for me.
