brad dryden
Im looking at a 2004 Honda Rancher 400 AT 4x4 and it has 230 hours on it. Comes with a winch, snow plow and a seed/salt spreader and their asking $4,250 to me I think this is a little high. I was thinking its only work $3,800 it seems to be in good shape. The reason I say this we had bought a rancher 350 4x4 with 80 hours on it for $3,800 its a 2001 and we had bought it in the summer of 2004. I don't want the spreader or the snow plow so I would TRY to sell them. What do you all think its worth right now with everything? Also do you all know of any issues these models may have had? Jeramie
Ranchers are great bikes. To me Honda Motors are about as good as they come. However, with the economy the way it is I wouldnt pay near that for any bike. Used bikes are going for a song. If you havent checked out craigslist yet you better look into it. You can get a really, really good deal right now on a bike. I bought a 2005 Yamaha Bruin, 350cc (I do prefer Honda btw) for $1,600.00 and its in great shape. I got it on Craiglist. I see bikes selling cheap as dirt all the time on craigslist. Here is an actual picture of my bike (remember, $1,600). I later added a 3k lb winch from Harbor freight for $100. wtnhunt
Their asking price is too much. Those bikes new at that time were right around that price, best as I can remember we gave around $4500 for our 450 foreman in 2004 and we could have gotten a rancher for less than that. Cannot add much for those accessories, I might offer $3000 for the bike by itself if it was in perfect condition and tell them to keep the accessories, negotiate from there if you want it bad enough. Economy where it is at people are not going to pay the then new price for a 6 year old bike, although I do see people asking close to new prices here for bikes like this too. Jeramie
I did a search on Craigslist here and they had much nicer and newer bikes for the same or less money. There was a 2007 ricon for $3500. Again, I would do some digging. Me personally, I wouldnt even make an offer on that bike. They think it is worth too much and I dont see where you could really come out on the deal. I would start looking other places. Just my $.

brad dryden
I dont have much trouble finding them but they are wanting a little much for them. But it seems when I am not looking I see some good deals I guess that's how it all works though. I wouldent mind traveling about 150 miles for the right but im sure I will come across one maybe. joeaveragehunter
I personally don't like hondas. No reason other than probably chevy/ ford/ dodge thing. I know alot of people that have them and love them and never heard a bad thing about them. As for the price, it does seem high, especially for what you can get one for if you look around a little. brad dryden
I talked to the guy and he said the lowest he would go on it would be $3600 what do you all think should I try for $3500? The only thing that makes me think it should be a little cheaper is the fact its 6 years old. But comes with the snow plow winch and the seed/salt spreader but dont really have a need for the plow or spreader. Does any one on here want to but them? wtnhunt
Bike that old I would not give that, even with the accessories. Figure you might be able to get $200 for the seeder and plow.
hunterbobb
IMO if the bike has 230 hours on it and most of it has been for plowing snow I wouldn't give him $1000.00 for it. Snow plowing hours are extremely tough on a bike. I think I would pass this one by. Keep in mind though I live in Wisconsin. The snow plowing might not be such an issue in Indiana, not sure what your winter conditions are. There is a big difference between plowing 18" of snow compared to plowing 2". :gun2:
