joeaveragehunter
I don't, but oh I wish I did. Not to mention you could make a pretty penny if you wanted to.

woolybear
I had the misfortune of calling in a tracking dog this past season on a wounded whitetail. Although we didn't recover the buck it was amazing to see this well trained tracking team work together. The photo album of all their sucessfull recoveries was impressive to say the least. Deer Search is a non profit organization(donations) that seems to be catching on in other states as well. I believe you need to be a licenced dog tracker (at least in NY) to take to the field with a dog. Hours of training leading up to the certification and the team needs to have a minimum amount of field calls under their belt. Charlette working with her Daschund. Grady269
Tracking Dogs In VA we can run deer with dogs but not during Bow or Black Powder Season. However; you can use them to track on a leash. With that said I have an older 'retired" female beagle that I use just for that purpose and she is the BOMB. Last year one of my buddy's shot a deer and tracked it to the edge of a big creek. We took old VV down there the next morning and she followed the track for over an hour and found the deer. It was a poor shot 1/4 to with the arrow stuck in the shoulder. This deer would have never been recovered without a tracking dog. Older dogs work much better for me than a younger dog because they will cold trail a lot better. So far VV has recovered 11 deer out of 14 in 3 years. The 3 she did not recover were still on the move while tracking.
