HUNTINGMAN
After much looking around and compareing prices I bought me a deer hunting rifle today. I borrowed an sks last year and it cost me so I bought a new marlin XL7 today chambered in 270win. It should do nice, now I just need a scope. Does anyone else have or shot one of these rifles? I have heard good things about them for what they cost.
hunterbobb
I haven't bought one yet but I am going to real soon. I have been looking at them every chance I get. IMO the rifle is worth a lot more than Marlin is charging. I think they are keeping the price low in order to get into the bolt action rifle market. :gun2:
dbHunterNY
They're supposed to be a great value and a good gun. I'm sure you'll have a blast shooting it.
Shaun_300
XL7, is that the lever? If it is my cousin has one in a 45-70 and he loves it.
doubleA
I purchased one in 270 Win myself almost 2 years ago. It's a nice no frills rifle and shares designs from various makers. Havent done a great deal of shooting with mine but it shoots around 1 moa out to the 300 yards. It's one of the best buys out there at the moment. Adjam5
Good Luck with it! It looks like a Weatherby styled Bolt with a Savage styled bolt handle. I think Marlin makes some very good rifles for the money. It will serve you well I am sure.
maddhunter
I tried to get one myself not to long ago but they are sold out around here, couldn't even order one. As far as a scope recamendation, I recently got a .243 and topped it with a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 6-18x50. Very good scope and I was very impressed with the low light brightness. It is brighter in low hazy light than my buddy's high dollar Nikon. I have dropped gun twice while yote hunting and it hasn't left zero yet. Jeramie
I havent bought one YET... I will. They seem to be a great rifle for the money. There was even a write up in Field and Stream this month about them. Seems like quality for a good price. Congratulations... You'll be happy with the .270 too. Great round. BBR12
I will have to look into thsoe. I really like marlin rimfires. You should be happy with the .270. Use that money you saved to buy some good optics and you'll have a mighty fine rifle.
