Re: New Boy Question??????

I'm new to the electronic callers but I've learned the hard way that its important is call quietly at first. This was hard for me to get used to but believe me it works.

To be honest every yote I've shot I've had the speaker right in front of me. Everytime I string out the 50 ft cord I've not had action. I know its coincedence, but I'm not convinced it matters where the speaker is. If you are in a decent spot.

Call for a minute, wait for a few minutes. Hungry yotes will be there very quickly. Usually less than 3 minutes. Better be ready. Repeat the process for 15 to 20 minutes. That yote knows exactly where that call is coming from. Don't over do it. If he's heard you and he's coming, he knows where you are. It's uncanny. I hunt rolling wheat fields and I know they can't see me in most cases until they get within a couple hundred yards because of the rolling hills. I commonly call then shut up completely only to have them dead run right to me.

Ask ronin about bobcats but I've been hitting yotes lately with a jackrabbit. A month ago it was fawn in distress.

Most importantly, this time of year they will be paired up a lot!!! If you call one in that keeps looking behind it or away from you a lot, its paired up. This is where it gets fun. Get ready to shoot the one but don't shoot to quick you can try for the double. Do not stand up after popping #1. #2 doesn't always take off right away. I've blown it many times by jumping up to fast only to spook #2.

Good luck, we want pics.
