Rem308
> > > > > > > > > I took advantage of the upper 40's and sunshine today and took my Old Town Loon on it's maiden voyage. I started the morning by paddling and getting the feel for this boat, which I was pleased to see was very stable. I paddled upstream for a while, which wasn't bad at all. The boat really glides through easily, less drag than on kayaks I've previously been in. After quite a bit of playing in the water and getting familiar with the water, balance, and paddling, I started fishing a few of the rocky drop offs into the water and around structure. I mainly fished a white shad imitation around the structure. I wasn't finding any bait fish either, the water temps were still pretty cold. I really enjoyed finding the little pools outside of the current and maneuvering my boat around, backing onto sand bars, and fishing the structure. I changed over to a few different small jigs and even fished a rattle trap. I never hooked a fish all day, but I had a blast playing on the water and practicing in my kayak. Shaun_300
Wow! Wish I could do that right now! All our lakes and rivers are covered in 30 inches of ice right now. :D
Turkeygirl
Looks like fun to me! We have an Old Town Kayak at camp...I love taking it on the river but plenty of nights I'd sat in the kayak with my fly rod on the camp pond, fishing....it's awesome:)
