LifeNRA
We can suggest! But only you can decide! What does your heart tell you to do? Thats what you need to do! Me, I would not do anything. Since your father gave you that gun. JMO!
AJ
Re: Shotgun camo question Like LifeNRA said, it's up to you. I have spray painted guns camo, used tape, and left alone. You can have the metal bead blasted adn parkerized to give it a dull finish and go for a satin finish with the wood. It will greatly reduce the glare but you will still be able to see the wood. Guest 2500HD
Re: Shotgun camo question If it were mine I would leave it as it is because it should have some sentimental value to it. Dipping looks excellent but is a permanent deal. Tape is OK but looks "cheazy" IMO. Another option that holds up very well, looks god and is removable id Camo-Clad. If you take your time you can make it looked dipped and you will be protecting the original finish. The kits are about $20 and I did my 870 about 7 yrs ago and used it for dove, duck, goose and turkey season for the first 4 seasons and for turkey only for the past few. Still looks good! too_pointer
Re: Shotgun camo question I would dip it in some Realtree camo, if you don't mind spending a few $$. It is still the same gun your father gave you, just prettier LOL. If that scares you away, I used to have some camo netting that you custom cut to fit your gun. I'm sure you can still find that. It worked out great for me for turkey hunting. too_pointer
wtnhunt
Re: Shotgun camo question If it were me seeing as how your 835 is already camo, I would likely leave it the way it is.
Guest 2500HD
Re: Shotgun camo question Read right over that in your post. Like I said i've had it on for at least 7 years and it still looks new. No rusting what so ever and i was not very kind to my 870. i would rarely clean it after a hunt. Pretty durable stuff. It's not hard to apply just take your time.
carbonhunter
Re: Shotgun camo question Another question along these lines....how durable is the Dip finish?? I've heard of factory finishes being very prone to scratches??
Guest 2500HD
Re: Shotgun camo question The dip finish is the same as the factory finishes that hold up really well. It is not a protection but only a finish though. Another place to contact for dipping is: Edmonson Technologies 5984 Canton Rd. Cadiz, KY. 42211 (270) 924-3036 Attn: Derek Edmonson
