Dakota
I had a real interesting past 45 minutes. I had Psycho class (I call it that for a reason...) at 2pm and my teacher turned the class over to a guest speaker...a hypnosist... I'm a firm believer in hypnosis being a tool of the devil and this guy started talking about how pure, simple and harmless hypnosis is. Yeah right...:offtopic: Well, I was really praying for strength from the Lord to withstand this smoothtalking liar and then the guy said that if anyone wasn't comfortable that they could leave by all means. I prayerfully rejoiced when I wasn't the only one who left. I got to talking with the one guy, aside from me, who left and found out that he too is a Christian and firm follower of Jesus Christ. So after a few minutes of talking to my new friend, Trevor, I got in my new truck to go home. As I'm driving home I felt compelled to pray for those left in the room with the liar and didn't see a slick patch of solid ice on the road until too late. My 4-wheel drive wasn't on and the breaks couldn't do anything against the ice. After 40-50' of breaking I ended up rear-ending the jeep in front of me; yep, you guessed it, it was Trevor. Thankfully neither of us were hurt and there was no real damage to any of the vehicles; my rail scraped his hitch, so that was the only damage. I'm home now and can't help but thank God for watching over me and taking care of me today. He does it every day, but today was so much more evident than most. I am so thankful that He is faithful when many times I am not. Just thought I'd share. Dakota
buckee
I'm with you on the hypnotism issue Dakota. and I have a feeling God was just showing you both (you and your friend) that he is watching over you both. I always love it when we get those little acknowledgments from the Lord. Great story buddy.

Dakota
I never knew christians were against hypnotism. Learn something new everyday! Some are, some aren't. Those that are, believe that it is tied in with the occult...which is where it's roots lie; it was first used by an Egyptian cult in ancient times. That's what the guy said today at least. Saying that something developed by a cult is pure is a little fishy in my opinion. Dakota
Ethan Givan
I never knew christians were against hypnotism. Learn something new everyday! Me either. Just a part of the science of psychology I reckon. They use it in clinical psychology I think.

The_Kat
Hmm, well I was hypnotized, but I didn't do devilish things. It was a fun activity enjoyed by everyone there. I saw the video afterwards and was laughing the howl time. Everytime someone said hello, I'd start telling them the pledge of allegiance lol. I believe he was with me yesterday, during an interview I had, I was so nervous I started losing sleep the night before, I said a few prayers before the time it started and now I have another interview scheduled next week. God IS Good.

Not to start a battle or anything, but I'm a Christian and I'm not against hypnotism. Just another science IMHO. Glad you're OK though bud. Got to agree with you Chris, though I admit I've never been nor seen anyone hypnotized.
RangerClay
I never knew christians were against hypnotism. Learn something new everyday! There many things in this world that are sins. It is all a matter of whether or not you put your faith in it. For example there are those who follow horoscopes and allow them to guide their lives. That is a sin for it violates the second commandment because you are putting other false gods before Him. Is it wrong to read a horoscope in the newspaper everyday or watch a hypnotist? No, but it becomes wrong when you put stock in what they say. I saw a hypnotist when I was in college. The girl I was dating was hypnotised. It kinda creeped me out and I have no desire to see it again.

ruttinbuc
Glad you are OK, Dakota. I saw Kreskin perform when I was 12 at a youth football banquet. He had people forgetting their names and addresses. Acting like washing machines and airplanes and pulling off some amazing things with numbers and cards. The one thing I remember is our coach coming out to the lobby where we were standing around and telling us to get into the hall. The show is about to be begin. That is how I have looked at it since. A show. I never associated it with anything more than that. Besides if Kreskin is the devil, the devil looks like a nerd....
