stevebeilgard
has anyone had one? we've had 3. one from uruguay, one from japan, then one from argentina. we had wonderful experiences with all 3. our son from uruguay is now a doctor. we picked him up in denver on monday. he came in to see rilda, and rilda cannot be more tickled. her short term memory is now 10 minutes or less, but she remembers javier well. anyway, it's a week of good times with an old friend since 1992. we wanted foreign exchange students for our kids worldly experience, and it worked out better than we'd thought. thus, we did it 3 times. all you need is a bed for them and an extra plate at the table. i highly suggest you accept a foreign exchange student some day, especially when your children are teenagers. we did ours as they were in high school. although we did it for our kids, we benefited greatly also. i have no doubts our kids will be doing the same for their kids. Tominator
I've averaged 1 or 2 in my classroom every year for quite some time now. I've never hosted one though. I've had them from Japan, Germany, Thailand, Poland, England, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine.....and others, just can't remember them all. LOL! 60% of my students are military. I get kids from EVERYWHERE! I commend those who take in exchange students. I would like to try it myself one day. Shaun_300
My aunt and uncle just had a very nice young lady from France last semester, she is my cousins age (17). Had a blast here in Canada!

Newarcher
Nah, that program is for the birds! I applied three (3) separate occasions to host a 20 something tall, blonde, female Swedish student and was denied each and every time! :jaw: Nah, it sounds like a wonderful program. Maybe we will try it when ours get older. In fact, if things continue like they are in the US, I might send my kids away to a Capitalist Country to see what it's like! Good for those that did it, I imagine it is pretty cool. New
