joeaveragehunter
I may be getting a job in Idaho Falls, ID for the next 8 months and am looking to get an elk tag. Anyone know of decent archery hunting within an hour or two of idaho falls? I called the dnr and they suggested Island Park next to yellowstone... if you dont mind a few grizzlies (I would prefer not to meet one). Tex creek area... higher pressure, not as much habitat. The palisades on the border of wyonming, but very steep which is fine by me since it means less hunters. Anyone have any input? Gotta get my tag in the next couple days. joeaveragehunter
Only had to spend about two hours on the phone with two dnr offices, and two calls to two different ranger stations. I can't say enough about how nice and helpful everybody was. They steered me away from grizzlies and rattlers, I have never met either and don't want to. I got one day a week from april to august to scout and four sundays to hunt. Stoked!
texastrophies
Sounds good, keep us informed on how it is going. Pics would be nice, too.
Jeramie
Ive been to Yellowstone. We camped, packed, fished, and treked in there for 2-weeks. It was a blast. There are some NICE elk around that area. If youre very close youre in for a great hunt.... Here is an elk I took shots of in Yellowstone.
