Bagged myself a biggin.

Killed my largest Tom to date around noon on Wed. 4/14/2010. Sweet talked him with one of Andy's Glass/Zebra wood pot calls and now he's in the freezer. The main bristles of his beard were 10", hooked spurs both 1 5/16", and weighed 24.1lbs on the certified food scale at the registration station. I have a lot of posting to do to as I mentored a gal during this week also. We finally closed the deal Friday morning with a very nice jake for her. She did a great job. She's Huntermomof4 here on Realtree. We also went 15 for 18 in the learn to hunt program again this year. It has been a spectacular season so far. Hope everyone is doing well.

I will post pictures once I take care of my sd card snaffoo.

With the wife going to dog shows in the next few weeks, hunting was going to be limited. Well the hunting Gods must have seen my situation as my spring season is over.

Went to one spot this morning, had a jake excited but he would not commit to the set-up. Plus he had to cross a river! Then I decided to hunt another spot in the next county. Weather was not the greatest, 30 MPH winds and scattered rain showers.

Well 8 minutes after I am set-up at the new spot, hit the box call a few times to hopefully get the sound out there with the 30 MPH winds, and two longbeards came in to my set-up. 20 yard shot, the Limbsaver Speedzone rocked his world!

His buddy stayed around for a few minutes, we are only allowed one bird per season or he'd be bird #2 for me! :D

Was an awesome hunt. Sadly I was all by myself on this hunt but it was a hunt I will never forget!

BTW: Those NAP Bloodrunners leave an awesome entry and exit hole! :D

Will post my score later. Have to run the numbers!

Stats:

20 lbs.

1 1/8" spurs

11 inch beard

His beard shows signs he was a scrapper! :D LOL!!

Thanks guys!

I will work on the score this week.

Was awesome to get him with a bow.

From his fan, you can tell this boy was a scrapper. Not sure if he ever won a fight though! :D Funny how him and the other tom came running up to my Pretty Boy to challenge him. The wind was so strong, you can see in the picture, my Pretty Girl is actually tipped over!

Congrats guys on your birds and best of luck to those still hunting.

On this hunt I never even got a chance to use Andy's call. I used my Amish made box call to try and get the sound out with the 30 MPH winds I was facing.

Was a fun hunt I will always remember.

BTW: Was using a NAP 100 grain Bloodrunner. Blades are still razor sharp but I did a spin test on it and it appears the ferrule is bent. It did its job though, I am happy with them!

dodgeman1 checking back in with bad news, the turkeys kicked my butt again this year. I hunted every chance i got, but between the wind, rain, and the cold weather the birds in my area just turned completely off. Just my luck though the weather turned nice this week, and the birds are strutting, and gobbling their heads off. Sorry about the no bird, but when the deer season opens I am much more consistant, best of luck to all else on the team wop a biggun for me. dodge out
