hey guys, I love the signature pic. My hubby (wtnhunt) and my daughter (lilmisswtnhunt) just hit the woods for the opener of our youth hunt. She is real excited. I took her out last night and we sat in the woods just listening for any gobbles......no luck. Hopefully they will have some luck this morning. Our season opens next weekend. We have easterns.

Good luck everyone.

Birds are very slow in Iowa this year. Been scouting every morning and very few birds are active. Hopefully with warmer temps they will start to become more vocal and active.

I have two youths that I will take hunting this year and a good friend who just had heart surgery. Hope there are some birds left for me to shoot....LOL.

good luck to all

Just got back from scouting this morning and heard lots of gobbling. But it is on the other side of the fence that I don't have permision to hunt.Last week I saw 21 turkeys on the property I hunted last year.5 strutters 1 jake and the rest hens.Only problem is lots of people hunt all around that area.

Well, I leave in the A.M. for the weekend. Will be hunting turkeys in the morning and evening. My buddy drew a spring bear tag for the area so I'll help him find a bear during the day. This could potentially be an AWESOME weekend. Hope the bears are out and the Toms are horny. Good luck everybody!!!!

Youth hunt success today

Took out a youth, Blake and had success. This morning we only had one hen at 5 yards.

This afternoon we went out at 3 PM, located some toms and were successful. 22 pounds, 10 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs. His first bird ever.

Season starts tomarrow at 6:21a.m. in Ohio.I have to be at work at 7:30,so not much time for me to go,but I may not need to much time.Just got back from scouting and turkeys are roosting across the creek from where I hunt.First light 2 jakes & 2 strutters flew down in the open feild on my side of the creek.Where I sat last year it would have been a 20 yard shot :jaw:.They spent 10 min. in the feild before walking back to the creekline, where they disapeared from sight.I'm going to try to sneek into there bedroom in the early, early, early morning and try to get a longbeard before work !I have to leave by 7:05 to make it to work, but the birds were gone before 6:45.I can't skip because I don't have my 90 day probation period up.I hope they do the same thing-2 days in a row!
