rhine16
How's it going guys! Looks like a decent group here. Our season opens on the 13th of March and runs through May 3rd... Can't wait to get it going.
elnor
We open April 6th and run through May 6th. I'll be hunting Easterns on family land, plus a special hunt on the McAlester Ammunition Plant one weekend with my father. I have a baby due in late April, so it may get dicey (in a good way :-), but baby permitting I'm also hoping to get out to western OK to chase Rios a bit too. Who's next? rhine16
Going to pm the other members... we sure aren't being too active on our team thread.
elnor
I'm going to beg forgiveness for the baby preparations RE not talking as much as usual. I'll do my best to keep things going on here, though. Actually one thing I'm wondering about is if anyone has a recommendation for AP or AP Green pattern pants with zipper or button-fastened pockets, preferably both slash pockets and some lower, painter-style pockets too. My old pair of Whitewater Realtree pants are wearing thin and I think I'll need something new before the season opens (4 weeks from today, yippee!). I don't like some of the corners they've cut on the new Whitewater pants, so I'm looking for something else. Suggestions anyone?
rhine16
Oh, no problem Elnor. Just meant that we need everyone to go ahead and check in. Season opens for me Saturday... Can't wait!
Adjam5
Sorry I'm late checkin in here. I apologize. Thanks for the wake up Rhine . I am Anthony and I will be chasin' Easterns on our family land with my 3 sons here in NY's lower Catkills Mtns. Our season starts May 1st, bearded birds only, until 12 noon. Does our team have a name?

rhine16
Any suggestions on a name guys?? Gobbler Getters, Slate Slayers, or Sweet Yelpers are all I can come up with. How was the season for each of you last year? This was the only bird I took....
HuntnMa
Thanks for the p.m. , I'm here now......Good luck y'all.
elnor
I like Gobbler Getters. Also fond of Spur Slingers. I had a rough season last year. Ended up with one Eastern, and he wasn't the big boy I was after. But he tasted good.

Adjam5
As far as a team name. It don't matter to me. Here is one...The Waddle Wobblers...hey I'm trying to be unique . Didn't get a bird last year, but I did get my youngest son Mike his first on NY's youth hunt. My oldest son Joe on the far right. I am really looking forward to this years spring turkey season. elnor
Fantastic pic, congrats on the hunt! I love it when my daughter joins me in the spring (or fall) woods. There is nothing like hunting with family. Speaking of which, I'll be heading to the woods one week from tomorrow, Tuesday April 6th for opening day. I'll be on the same farm as my father, though we usually hunt separately. He's got some really great trail pics of strutters in the snow we had a week ago; if/when I get a copy of his photos, I'll post one to further wet everyone's appetite. Looking forward to smashing some snoods soon! Also, I like Waddle Wobblers and will second that name. Anyone else?
elnor
I'm heading out tomorrow to get after the thunder chickens Tuesday morning. I'll update everybody if/when I get one. Good luck to everyone hunting or getting ready to!
Adjam5
Hey Team... Saw a few Toms last week on my ride around the mountain behind our land. Good birds too. I am hoping my oldest boy Joe gets the time he needs off from work to come hunt with us. I will be doing some more scouting tomorrow. Any names for the team yet? Come on...we have to more than a #. rhine16
Spur Slingers is my choice. I'm hunting my butt off down here but I haven't connected yet. Have called in a couple for others now.
elnor
Ok, that's two for Spur Slingers. If there are no objections, I'll pm Strut10 with our choice. My update: Killed a decent 2yr old, 9 1/4 beard, 3/4 spurs, 17lbs 4oz, on fourth day of our season. I'm still hunting (posting this from my phone while in a field edge blind actually). Back home in a couple more days then I'll get pictures and details uploaded.
Adjam5
Congrats on the bird! Looking forward to the pics:). Spur Slingers is fine with me.

elnor
Thanks for the congrats, everyone. I'll get the story, pics, and contest entry posted asap now that I'm back home. Also, I just sent a message to Strut10 to ask for the team name "Spur Slingers".
elnor
I've posted my bird to the turkey contest here. I also posted the story of the hunt as "Samson the Strutter" in the turkey forum; click here to read it. There are pictures in both. Here's one of the better ones IMO (click to see a larger image). Now on to tom #2, baby permitting!
