I just sent Don a message to let him know we've decided on the Gobbler Gang as a name. Yea I'm pumped. I've got all my stuff set aside and ready for May when turkey season rolls around. I think I may be in another turkey contest for a local archery shop too. Also I was asked to guide some turkey hunters coming up here from NJ and I'm thinking about it. So, I may being seeing a lot of birds drop this spring if things go as planned.

There is tons of turkey around up where im at. Me and my dad just went and shot our guns making sure that there alright. He just got a new remington 870 12 gauge and it kicks like a mule!

As long as it knocks down a turkey. Pain is temporary, but the memory of that bird getting hammered off his feet will last forever.:D

I think Cody (JackedUpZ71) is up first. Season starts this Thursday! Good luck buddy!

Good Luck Cody!!! I'm still waiting. I did see a strutter the other day, had a full fan but I couldn't tell about a beard. Come on April 19th!!

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm going to have to work tomorrow and Friday. I plan on hitting the woods full force though come Saturday.

Went to one of my buddy's places this morning. The birds didn't gobble at all off the roost. We did some cold calling until about 8 o'clock and decided to move to another location. On the way out a bird gobbled on his own less than 100 yards away. We sat down and I hit the call, and not five minutes later I see a red head about 40 yards away. Since it was my buddy's place I thought it would only be polite to let him have the first bird. I told him to go ahead and shoot, but nothing. Apparently he thought that it was too long of a shot--which I respect-- but with my set up I would have felt comfortable with it. I work second shift, so I'll have plenty more chances this week though.

went out yesterday to scout and listen for birds. didn't hear any gobbling but saw two hens and lots of scratching through the woods... they'll be in there for sure.

on a fun note, i took my son to the kentucky youth weekend last weekend. we ended up seeing 9 longbeards. he missed 4 of them! we were hunting from a blind and they just kept coming through.

don't know what was up with his shooting. he's only 10...still getting used to all the excitement i guess. he bagged a jake last year but he really wants a tom. i guess those longbeards got the best of him!

we're going to do a little shooting practice and head out again when ohio season rolls around. best of luck to all!
